HAPPY MAY DAY!!!

Today is Jeff's birthday! He was the best man at our wedding and such a dear friend. She shared more laughs with this guy than with anybody! Happy birthday, Jeff! We miss you! Also happy birthday wishes to Jasmine... from our old church! And fyi Judy Collins is 70 today.... Rita Coolidge is 64... and Tim McGraw is 42!

Good job Heather... she guessed yesterday clip was "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days". Today's is another chick flick.... good luck!

Had a pretty stressful day yesterday.... bills! I have got to get a job or something is going to have to go!

I am officially stuck on the peninsula.... as of 8 hours and 14 minutes and 50 seconds ago. lol! Called Papa "Gilligan" this morning. He has to work at 4 this afternoon so I will take him to the park and ride and pick him up tonight. I was actually sick to my stomach last night. I am so claustrophobic.... I think that type of anxiety was setting in. Just the thought of being so isolated from my family and friends, church, mom, stores we shop at... and grandkids! I have to make light of it though. We have some food and the vehicles in place. Thank goodness the buses and ferry are free. We knew this was coming. We just want it over with now. Ya know....it is what it is.

I did get to see Riley play ball last night. What a blessing that was. I am so thankful all the kids are healthy and happy! Thank you to the parents and the Lord.

Here is Riley playing 1st base in the purple....she is great at it!
Up to bat... kind of holds it like her mama!
Running home! The beginning of a star baseball player! It was so fun watching her game! She is a really good little ball player! Better than most. I told her she was better than Dylan.... she hit 3 times in one game! She thought that was funny! It was nice... I'm glad I got to see her play. She gave me the biggest, tightest hugs bye... like she wouldn't see me again because of the bridge. I needed those hugs! Jordy was at practice so I missed seeing her.

My last journey to the old bridge on the way to Riley's game. Kevon is in the truck ahead of me... he bought papa's pressure washer. He came over and we talked for a bit. I love him. He's a good boy and I am soooo proud to be his mama.
All the signs are now up and in place ....

I heard this part will be gone.... not sure if it will or not.
All of this old section is being replaced.
And this part will be straight through instead of going around. The opening doesn't slide into this section anymore so it isn't necessary.
And all of this.... gone. It looks bigger in person... and more ominous!
Later... taking papa's car to the park and ride.... we were shocked by how packed the lot is! They may have more than they bargained for here.
Last drive on the old section.... the new section is going to be awesome! I have to remember that and not be down.

Here's the report from KIRO news on it:
The Hood Canal floating bridge closed at midnight Friday for a six-week renovation to replace the older, eastern half of the bridge. The closure means a new commute for 15,000 people who usually cross the bridge. The closure comes on the same day the Washington state ferry system raises fares for the peak summer season. The $500 million project will secure the crossing between the Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas. Workers will replace pontoons and make other improvements on the older half of the bridge that opened in 1961. The west side of the bridge was replaced after it sank in a 1979 wind storm. It reopened in 1982. The Transportation Department said the 8,869-foot long bridge is the longest floating bridge in the world over saltwater."

Well... that's all I have. I have plans these few weeks. I am going to start on my bedroom closet. Day one. Then the bedroom... day 2 and 3. Then my flower bed one day that it is sunny.... the toyroom and closet there.... on and on and on. I should paint!!!! Papa hates it when I say that.... because it means "He should paint". I love to paint.... but being a painter he doesn't give up the brush that easy.

Hope you all have a great month! And a great day! It is Friday!!!!

What's Ahead:
Sunny skies, some high thin clouds, and afternoon highs jumping to the low 70s!
The rain chance rises tomorrow afternoon and evening for Seattle's opening of boating season. Highs in the lower 60s.
Rain turns to fewer showers with sunbreaks Sunday and Monday as highs cool to near 60.

Okay. So help me understand this. You're on one peninsula and they're working on the bridge that connects you to where everyone else is and where you shop, etc.? And you're not temporarily relocating, you're going to stay there and use the park and ride for work and such? You could still go places, just have to park and ride the ferry, right? I'm having a blonde moment here, sorry.

Seattle is on the mainland. There is Kitsap Peninsula which is where we lived (a ferry ride from Seattle or drive around thru Tacoma away). We moved across the Hood Canal Bridge to Olympic Peninsula which extends clear to Pacific Ocean (some 3 hours away). Access is the bridge or drive around which is about 3 hours. Most of the family live in Kitsap Peninsula (except Heather lives on the other side of the state over the Cascades in Eastern Washington). We had considered taking our travel trailer to Kitsap during the duration... but Papa said our animals are our responsibility as is our home and we need to stay and take care of it. So yea.... we are staying on the Olympic Peninsula and commuting... leaving a car at Kitsap Park and Ride. Make sense?

FYI, the woman that directs traffic at the Port Gamble park and ride is not a people person. I guess you cannot pick up or drop off anyone, and you don't ask questions about it either (she calls security). You wait to be directed to park and then they get out and you wait to be directed through to leave. I thought she was going to reach in the car and drag me out by my ear. Tell Lanny be careful, its a rough commute.
