Dr. Seuss is on the loose!!!!!

At least at our school we are going Dr. Seuss crazy.  We could have fun for weeks with his books, but since Friday is his birthday... we are only going to do the week.
Monday is The Foot Book read by the Director of M&M Kids (the before and after school program we do at all the schools). Then we are doing paint foot prints on a long strip of paper!
Tuesday is The Cat and the Hat read by Ms. Joanna (head of ALL the Children's Schools) and we will be making hats, possible goldfish bowls to stack and practice balancing!
Wednesday is Hop on Pop read by Ms. Marcey (my other boss) and we are going to have fun with bubble wrap! lol!
Thursday is Green Eggs and Ham with Ms. Tammy (she runs the center up the hill) and guess what we'll be doing that day???? Of course....cooking green eggs and ham!!!!
Friday is our final day and the CEO of our company....Chad Solvie will be reading The Lorax. We are having a birthday party for Dr. Seuss that day too!  So it will be a busy week!
I hope you have a wonderful week of craziness and fun!

field trips and weirdness!!!!

I did it again!  Three days later I am posting! Trying to get it out there earlier!  Well, week has been great in some ways ..... not so great in others.

Found out they are getting rid of Marcey's job so that means they are getting rid of Marcey.  She is my mom at work. She hired me. She mentored and encouraged me. She believed in me.  She means everything to me at work!  She is our shield and defender and person many of us turn to when we need a friend, prayer, encouragement and help.   I cried. I am heart broke. She'll never know what she means to us. :(

So now there is shuffling around trying to get things together.  I need to talk to Joanna.

This week has been Community Helpers week. Tuesday we had Officer Shawn come speak to the kids.  They mostly wanted to hear about his gun, if he killed anyone, if he ever put people in jail, etc....
Outside the fire station!

Fireman showing his gear

1st Mate Libby with the kids!

Officer Shawn with the school on Monday!

They learned about 911, they learned about stranger danger, they learned how to stop, drop and roll, they learned to crawl below the smoke and to the window.  They learned not to fear policemen or firemen (especially in their gear). They learned about ferry boats and will learn about Mail today! Great week!

I am exhausted.  Been a tiring week.  So much more going on this week within a 30 mile radius! State Patrol murdered while pulling someone over on Hwy 16 (the killer shot himself 12 hours later and is dead), a man murdered another man in Poulsbo and then called it in...he is in jail, a Bremerton 3rd grader brought a 45 handgun to school and accidentally shot another 3rd grader....she is in critical condition. Two people murdered in Sequim....that guy took his own life when the police found him.  This morning a car went off highway in Gorst into the bay...and so far one is dead. I think I got everything.  This area has been such a weird week!!!! It is NEVER like this! Praying for peace to come over the area!

They are talking possible snow this Sunday.  That would be nuts too since we have March around the corner. lol!

Well.... see the good and the bad?  And the ugly.  Pray for our area and our nation when you think of us!  Have a great weekend! It IS Friday after all!

Day 2 in a row.... not bad!

So I changed my background.  I love change....plus Valentine's is over.  Except in my hall at school... it will stay up until March 1st. I spent the last 30 minutes looking for it in my computer and couldn't find it. Will have to take the picture again today and show you all.  Here are the two I have:

Our kids were elves for Christmas!
Our kids were ghosts for Halloween!
I think next month we will put a big rainbow and a pot of gold at the end with the kids as the gold! Doesn't that sound cool?
It seems like when I was just sitting at home I had more to talk about then I do now.  Papa sure is loving retirement.  I mean REALLY loving it. I am so happy for him! And I am loving my job.  I finally admit that I AM a teacher.  And I am a good one at that!!!  Almost all the things I come up with I do it on my own (lesson planning, field trips, etc....). Sarah and Allison do their own thing too. I am very proud of myself.
Well....have to get ready to go.  Getting a new girl tomorrow!  Can't wait to meet her!  Have a great day everyone.  And share your smile.....someone probably needs it! xoxo

feb 20...presidents day

Has it really been over a week since I posted?  My excuse is .... I have been sick with a cold. since Wednesday. I went home about 3:30 that day. Teresa really needed me there the next day. The USDA lady came in for a day and a half to make sure we were doing everything correctly. We passed with flying colors! Yay!!!  Anyway.... I basically went to work, came home, fell asleep every day.  It was exhausting. So I decided I was going to stay home all weekend and do nothing but rest.  Well, that is what I did!  Yesterday I came down with another bladder infection.  A month ago today was the last one. Strange. I worked on a lot of school stuff.  Reorganizing and printing and all that kind of stuff.  Got things pretty well organized for the next 3 months! lol!  It does feel good.  Last week we did emotions. It actually was a very emotional week for the kids too.  Don't know if they were just picking up on me not feeling well or what.  You know....like the strong go after the weak. lol. Just kidding. This week we only have 4 days and we are doing "Community Servants".  We'll do it again in May also.  A police officer is coming to our school to talk on Tuesday.  I am going to fingerprint the kids and look how different everyone's is.... and they are going to make badges for themselves!  That will be a busy day! On Wednesday we are taking the bus to the Fire Station for a tour.  That will be fun!  Thursday my sister Libby is coming to share about Washington State Ferries and transportation across the Puget Sound.  Friday we will be walking to the Post Office for a field trip and then playing Mail Person when we get back.  I look forward to the busy week!  The following week is our Dr. Seuss on the Loose week....I have guest speakers coming in every day to read a different story to the kids!  We got a new girl last week and we are getting another one this week!  Back up to 16 kids!  Woo-hoo.  All but 2 will be going to Kindergarten next year! :(

Papa is doing good.  Getting his blood sugar down.  Still walking with Toby everyday.  My blood sugar is doing excellent.  Gets a little low at times and I get shaky.....so I pop something in my mouth. Sucks when it happens at work.

This past two years have been rough losing all my senior friends.  Ernestine and Don Kain started it off, and my Uncle Jake and Uncle Alvin, Mary Davision and Mom and Aunt Lorraine ....now Dick Lane went to be with the Lord last Friday.  Wonderful man with a gentleman's heart.  His wife, Mary, is in the nursing home and ready to join him soon.  I love this couple so much.  That is about all the senior friends I have left.  The rest are my age.  Guess we are next.

Well..... on that sad note I will say bye bye!

Oh, I can leave it on a happy note! Maddie got her ears pierced and didn't even cry. She said it only felt like someone touched her earlobe.  What a trooper.  So proud of her.  Love to all and miss the daily communication!!!!!

working and singing

I cannot believe it is Sunday already! Wow!  It was a great week at school. Finished off the 5 senses tasting baby food. Oh, I laughed at their brave little faces! So fun!
Next week is Emotion's week!!!  Happy, sad, mad and scared.  And a Valentines Day thrown in on Tuesday!  Should be lots of fun. Went to the library with Lauren on Saturday and got the rest of the books for the week and renewed my Dr. Seuss books. :D  I pretty much have the month planned and it feels good.
We also went to the school and exchanged the Sensory Bin.... took out the cereal and oatmeal the kids were playing in and this week we have Red, Pink and White fish gravel and some heart jewels. They should love playing in it.  Got some other little things done....and then we went to Walmart and did grocery shopping.  Papa was along.... he cut the stickers down in the playground for me. Sweet of him.
This morning we took Maddie and Lauren to church. They sure know a lot of songs.  Here is one....
They make me laugh!!!!

Lauren also recorded a video because Andrew did..... here it is
Well.... I think I will go chill and watch some tv with my hubby.  Have a great week! I know I will!

Wednesday is Hearing Day

It is already Wednesday. I don't know what happened to me "posting everyday!"  It has been a good week. A bit tough....but only because of some kids that decide they didn't want to listen.  That has been an issue lately.  So I have to be tough with them and that is hard. I don't like being tough. But it is the only way to get them to LISTEN the next time.
Speaking of listening.... we are doing the 5 senses this week.  Today IS hearing!!! lol!  We are talking about different sounds we hear. We will be talking about what it is like to be deaf and looking at a sign language chart. We will be putting cotton in our ears and seeing what it is like to have trouble hearing. We will talk about how important it is to protect your ears. I'll show a picture of the ear and talk about the drum. Why we don't poke anything in our ear. That kind of stuff. Should be interesting. But we are suppose to do hearts for a craft. It is going to be kind of hard because I won't have Veronica around. Teresa will be in meetings all day and Cherie has a meeting and leaves early so V will be out of my room. Crazy day.... I need an extra measure of patience, Lord. :D

Yesterday I had to go to a meeting about the new Employee Handbook. There were some interesting things in it. It changed a little. The first upgrade in 5 years so it had to include tongue piercings etc. lol.

I guess Maddie wasn't feeling well yesterday!!!  Here is a picture her mama took with Maddie and Gracie chilling out.

I am SO happy Justin Webb Simmons is home from Afghanistan!  Praise God he is safe and out of harms way.  He won't have to go back because he did 2 tours. I am so thankful and happy!

I don't have much more to say! Andrew went to his first Drivers Ed class yesterday! He said it was "ok...kind of boring".

I am having a lot of trouble loading pictures on blogger lately!!! Frustrating. I can't do multiples! When I have time I will figure it out.

Hope you have a great day today! God's blessings on your day!!!!!!!

Day of busy-ness!

Oh, what a day.  I feel like I spun my tires and went no where. Ever have a day like that?  Maddie came over this morning and we headed out the door to run errands. Got a bit of a late start. Picked up Lauren first.  Then we ran over to Bainbridge Island to see Maddie's art work in the Bainbridge Art Museum.  That was pretty cool to see it there!!!  The price is $75.00 to purchase her picture!
Lauren and Maddie (those are fake glasses Lauren likes to wear)

Maddie next to her picture

Her Grandpa Dave's house

I also ran into an old friend I haven't seen in over 14 years!  Her name is Charlotta.... she is Swedish and a chiropractor that worked in the same office I was a receptionist at.  We caught up on her life, my life and a little gossip about the other two chiropractors who worked there. One moved to California with his son....the other took off in the middle of the night outrunning the IRS and went to the Caribbean! lol!  Charlotta doesn't do Chiropractic work any more.

Then we went to Safeway.... couldn't find anything to eat... swung by McDonalds and got tired of the drive-thru wait so we left Bainbridge Island.
Went to Maddie's and got her fake glasses and her DS.
Next we got some Subway sandwiches and went to Lions Club Park. We ran into some friends Derrance and Jessica....and their little one year old Tyus.  So cute!!! He kept hugging Lauren and waving bye bye.
We went to the Library where I picked up a bunch of books for my school!  It was fun! And the highlight was I ran into one of my old students... Lyric!  He was at a table with his mom and another lady and I said "Hi Lyric... do you remember me?" and before I got the whole sentence out he jumped up and ran into my arms!!!!  I almost cried!  It was awesome! He kept finding me and talking to me. Also saw one of our kids, Sophia's, mom.
We went to Dollar Store and I got just a few things. Saw no one I knew there. lol!
Then we ran to Walmart and got some baby food for our school (taste). Doing the 5 Senses at school this next week.  Should be fun!  There were other things I wanted to get but couldn't find.  That is where I really felt like I was spinning wheels!  Did see Tamara Henry and visited and caught up on things. It was nice.
Even though I didn't feel like I got anything accomplished... I got some visiting in....touching human life is far more important than busy-ness.  Right???
At walmart Maddie bent down on a knee to look for baby food flavors and her knee must have landed on glass. It was a bleeder! It bled for over 15 minutes.  Of course we left and ran back to her house and Karla cleaned it up and dressed it for her.  Maddie figures a jar broke and it didn't get cleaned up all the way.  I'm sure she is right. SUE! jk
Well, that has been our day! Now they are having pasta with green salt (Parmesan cheese).

It was a pretty good week at school.  It was health week.
Monday we talked about nutrition and every day we went over the Food Pyramid and talked about healthy foods and not very healthy foods. It was fun and they retained what they learned!  We made mobiles with healthy food they colored hanging from them.
Tuesday was Exercise!!! Veronica led them in exercises, we talked about different ways to exercise and sang Row Row Row Your Boat. The kids also did Broccoli Art where they made paintings using pieces of broccoli!
Wednesday almost everyone wore their pajama's and we talked about how important sleep is for our bodies and minds and health.
They loved playing outside with their fruit balls (bouncy balls that smelled like fruit) in their pajamas!
Me and Ella

We did a cute project where they colored a paper bed, a quilt, a boy, girl and sleeping dog and we glued 3 sides of the quilt on so they could tuck the kids and animal in bed. They loved it!
Thursday was Groundhogs day so the kids used paper cups, a stick and a gopher and colored and fixed them up so the gopher could pop out of his hole. lol! They loved that project alot! The tooth fairy "Twinkles" also came and talked to the kids about dental health!  It was cool because Skana was with her (she is married to Brad Sloman....one of Kevon's best friends all through high school!) It was good to see her!

And Friday we did a recap of the week!  The day went really fast and we didn't have many kids. We played with the parachute outside. That was fun!

Well... enough of that. I only seem to talk about my grandkids and work. That is my life. And I love my life. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  We have church and not sure if we'll even watch the Superbowl. Papa doesn't really care about either team.  We were invited to Tara & Brad's but Papa can't turn the channel if he is there. lol!  They'll have more fun with their friends without us anyway.
It is also Brad's birthday!

Love to all and have fun celebrating to my bestie's in Georgia!!! Thank the Lord!!!!
