I'm back!!!!

FRIDAY the 21st of September:

Papa and I took Scruffy to the groomers.  Only got him trimmed up a bit; his nails, eyes, tails and legs for winter.  Didn't want him to get cold so we didn't trim him too much.  We waited there for him knowing it wouldn't be too long.  He was so happy to see us and to get out of there! lol

Friday was Dylan's big move. First time moving out of his home and into the dorm at the University of Washington! Emotional time for all. Madi had a real hard time with it and was a bit cranky. I picked her up from school and we went to Pho Kim again to eat the best food.  Waitress was frustrating me sitting at the register with her cell phone most of the time. Madi came over after we ate and we watched some TV before taking her home.  She had to feed her cat and I think she wanted to be alone.  Her parents got home from dropping Dylan off shortly after Madi got home.

Here is a picture of Dylan at the school.  Does he look older to you or is it me?  I made a collage of Madi and Dylan showing their closeness.  They really love each other and will miss each other a lot!

SATURDAY 9-22:

Papa and I didn't do much.  Everyone else did.  Karla and Madi took their Auntie Ann and her daughter Adrianne over to Pike Place Market and around Seattle.  They met Dylan over there and he walked around with them.  Also,  it was Husky day so Lauren and her band and about a thousand other bands went to Husky Stadium to perform at half time at the football game.  Amanda and Kevon went to the game and met Andrew.  They got to visit with Dylan who also went to his first game for his college team.  Pretty exciting. Dylan loves football. I'm not a fan of college football.  But now I will back the the Huskies.

SUNDAY 9-23:

Just stayed home and watched the Seahawks play football.  A lot of my family (9 of them) chose Dallas to win but the Hawks pulled it off 24-13. Me and 6 others picked the winning team! lol!

And Papa made a real good dish with pork chops for dinner! Num! And chocolate chip cookies for the boxes.

MONDAY 9-24:

We made up boxes for Parker and Patrick and sent them off. Patrick's cost more because he lives in Arizona.  We sent them Papa's cookies, some miniature candy bars, bag of starburst, easy mac, granola bars and we sent Patrick some Bunny (chocolate Nestle Quik) and Parker some Strawberry Quik.  Hope they love their goodwill boxes. lol!  Papa is making another batch of cookies to send to Dylan today.  Why are we doing this?  Well, we have sent Andrew a couple boxes since he started college in Kirkland so he has goodies to snack on and a touch of home. This is why we are sending these.  Pat just moved to Phoenix away from everyone and needs homemade cookies and candy to snack on. Parker just got his own apartment with some friends and deserves a housewarming box.  And, of course, Dylan is now away from home.  We never sent one to Jordy because she lived at home while going to school. She is getting married in two weeks so we will give her something after the honeymoon!

TUESDAY 9-25:

We had to take the van in and get the wheel berring replaced.  It was starting to make a noise turning left. Didn't cost as much as I thought it would so that is good!  Papa and I went to breakfast at the Big Apple Diner in Bremerton.  Good food as usual! After eating I went to see Karla at her new office.  It is NICE!  We visited for about 1/2 hour so it was really nice!  Papa just napped in the car. lol!

My daughter is so beautiful.  Here she is wearing Grandma Langager's wedding ring around her neck.  I think she cherishes it.

That afternoon I met my brother David and his two daughters Alyssa and Jessica at Elmer's for dinner.  It was quite a visit.  David looks really good and seemed happy!  The girls looked great as usual!  So pretty!  I had fish and chips, Jessie had turkey dinner, David had chicken strips and Aly had waffles, eggs and bacon.  Our dinners were all so different.  David ordered a chocolate milkshake for dessert.  I sure love my family and spending time with them!

On WEDNESDAY 9-26:

Dylan's first day at UW!   He sent a first day of school picture to his mom.

Not sure how it went because I talked to him the day before.  I need to call him!

Papa went to his doctor appointment and everything is great!!!  His heart is beating great and they did an EKG it was awesome!  Such great news!
While he was gone my blood sugar went down to 65.  I was very shaky so I ate two left over corn muffins.  Scared me. I have never had it this low before.
Since I wasn't feeling well we decided not to go to the Kingston High School Homecoming Parade in Kingston.  But I got some pictures of Lauren:

Lauren is 2nd from left!

Papa went and did the grocery shopping this morning.  He is a much better housewife than I am.  He is so good at shopping.  We didn't need to get meat.  There is quite a bit in the freezer and a lot in the cupboard. So it went good for him. Then I put everything away.  Now he is making cookies for Dylan and we will box his stuff up today and off it goes. If Karla was driving over Saturday I would send it with her.  But the family is walking over to see him.  I bet Madi is excited they are going over to spend the day with Dylan.

TODAY is Thursday the 27th:

Just talked to Parker!!!  He got his box today and is very happy!!!!  He was drinking a glass of strawberry milk already!  That makes us happy.  Can't wait to see him in two weeks at Jo's wedding!

It is Homecoming week at Lauren's school and today was the 80's!  Lauren looked so cute!!! Her 80's mom fixed her up!!!

Finally, I wanted to remember to post this.  It is Scruffy.  This is how he looks every night when he wants to go to bed.  He will not go without me and he drives me crazy!  He will stare at me until I go to bed.  Funny dog!

Well, I guess that was the past week!  Hope you had a good one!  I  know we did!

Papa is good, icky animals, busy grandkids, jerks and mothers!

I was reminded last night to keep blogging and I got on today and noticed it has been almost two weeks. So I best start here....

I will update my last post.  Papa had his electrical cardioversion yesterday. It required taking him to Harrison Bremerton and him having to be put to sleep (not like an animal). They had trouble because he would not go to sleep!  They said he just kept talking and talking. So another doctor had to come in put him under so they could do the procedure. They stopped his heart and then shocked him to restart it.  It worked so now he doesn't have a "flutter".... he has a regular heart beat again! His blood pressure was it little low but they got it under control. So after they monitoring him and making sure of no blood clots he was free to come home.  Everything worked out great! On the way home he was still a little under the influence and he was yelling "whoopie" out the window.  He was SO relieved.  I really don't think he thought he would be ok.  It was worrisome because of his history. We are thanking God, for sure!  What was great for me was Dylan, Amanda and Lauren came and waited with me. It would have been so hard to be alone during it. We went to the cafeteria for lunch.  Amanda and Lauren are on the Keno diet and had salads that were awful.  I was not carb careful and had a really good cheeseburger and fries.  Dylan had a Toasted Ham and Cheese sandwich and fries.  They were very distracting for me and it was sweet of them taking the time for it. I was still anxious and it seemed to take so long.  Hard to not be worried.  As it was I called Kevon at 6:30 that morning to have him talk me off the ledge.  I was having a panic attack thinking the worse.  Reading last blog I was doing it there too... both my parents died there and Papa's last hospital stay and heart attacks and almost dying 3 times!  But Kevon reminded me that I DID get to take Lanny home. And how many times did we get to take my parents home from there?  And Karla and Kevon were born there. And Dylan, Jordy, Parker and Patrick were all born at Harrison Bremerton. So many blessings happened there!  I love Kevon and am thankful he can always talk sense to me.

The dinner or lunch with Costco Dogs didn't work out again.  I feel like we have tried it so many time I just give up.  The older the family gets the busier they get.  I was really disappointed but Andrew and Tara both called me to say they were sorry it was cancelled again. They knew I was sad.  But it is what it is. Lauren was sick. Sick happens.  They will have to plan it next time. At least we have lots of hot dogs in the freezer.  lol!

Ok, lets go back to the 8th of Sept where I left off last post.  It was the day mom went to be with Jesus, dad, baby boy, her parents and sisters, family and friends.  What a day of celebration it was for them!  Still a day of sadness for me.

But I keep on. We just stayed home and chilled.

Sunday the 9th we just sat around and watched the Seattle Seahawks lose.  I don't know what is going on with Russell Wilson.  And I know it isn't all his fault but he is not playing well.   But papa made the best dinner tonight of fried chicken thighs, julienne potatoes and green beans. It was wonderful!!!!

Sept 10th Monday Patrick started school He is going to motorcycle mechanic school  Pretty awesome!  And today he got hired as a dirt bike mechanic full time.  Praying he handles it all!  School is in the evening. He seems to enjoy Phoenix so far!  Been watching the weather and it is always over 100!!!!  Too hot for me!

Parker got his own apartment with a couple of room mates.  Including this black widow. I think Parker is planning on evicting him.

Heather, Don, Jared and Josh just moved into their new home in town and Josh found this creature under his bike he was going to ride! He screamed and the rattlesnake left slithering under the fence.  Don is still looking for it though to make sure it is gone!!!! Yuk!!!!

Papa bought me flowers the other day!  What a wonderful surprise! Pink carnations which I absolutely love.  I think he loves me!!!!!

Tuesday 9-11 really brings back memories of one of the saddest days in America's history.  I wish they would teach my grandkids about the day but they need to learn about Methasatopia instead. smh

Wednesday the 12th Papa made my Aunt Lorraine's "Hot Dish" and he has loved it since Peever!  Here is the recipe:
AUNT LORRAINE'S HOTDISH

Brown 1 and 1/2 lbs. hamburger
Add diced onion to the hamburger while cooking
Meanwhile boil a package of egg noodles

When the burger is done... drain grease.
Place burger in a 9 x 12 cake pan

Mix in:
2 cans chicken gumbo soup
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup

Add noodles and stir

Bake 350
40 minutes

Anyway he will eat on it for days! He also adds celery to his dish too.
I was almost in a car accident on my way from dropping Lauren off at school!  Seriously scared the life out of me!
I was almost hit by a truck on 104 on the stretch between Gamblewood and Port Gamble. A big truck (like a dump truck) was turning right into a driveway and I slowed down behind it. Looking up in my rear view mirror and a white truck was barreling down on me. He was ready to rear end me hard when he swerved around me barely missing me!!! Thank God for protecting me and that no car was coming towards us! It scared me so bad. I followed him and in Port Gamble in front of the church he tried to pass a red car! He got in the other lane and stayed there til almost the corner. At the corner the red car pulled over while the white truck laid on his horn at him!!! I followed the white truck to the bridge where he went straight towards Poulsbo and I turned right. IF you know who drives this truck tell him to BE CAREFUL and not drive like an idiot for me!!!!! I am thankful for God's protection. It was that close.

Lauren had tryouts for Jazz Band and, of course, she made it.  She is such an amazing musician and loves it to her core.  She plays the tenor sax, the berry, the piano, ukulele and guitar. And she sings so good. She can really harmonize. She sings in the youth group at church leading worship.  Proud?  Ya, a little bit.

Ok, one more thing from the 12th is I made the best potato salad ever using potatoes that we roasted with the roast the other day.  Num!

The 13th Papa went and got an electrocardiogram. The results were good showing no damage has happened to his heart at all since his heart attacks and surgeries in 2007!  Pretty awesome.

The 14th Joshua got his braces off.  He was always so handsome but he looks so cute with the braces off. I bet he is so happy!!!!

Oh, and I found Josh and Jared's first day of school picture!  And one taken today before their first Junior High Football Game!

It was a pretty uneventful weekend.  I am really happy my blood sugar and blood pressure are down.  That is such good news.

Monday the 17th was the day Lanny's Ma went to be with Jesus. It is so hard to believe how quickly time goes. Ten years!  And she is still missed so much!  She was the best mother-in-law.  She always had sweet words to say, good advice and she loved her kids more than life.

Tuesday Papa took Kitkat for his final shot.  He won't need a booster for awhile.  They charged $18 for his nails to be trimmed.  The appt was over $60.   He is covered and updated now.  Papa is happy. Not so much Kit kat.

And the next day was yesterday when we spent the day at the hospital. I guess I am caught up. Today we've just been chillin'.  Coming up is more of the same.  Scruffy goes to the groomers tomorrow.  Dylan is moving to the University of Washington!!  I am picking up Madi from school and we will be going to lunch.  And on Saturday Fall begins.

Well,  enjoy your weekend and remember to pray for those on the east coast!

School starts again and getting our health on!

Today is Friday the 7th of September.  Before you know it we will be having Christmas.  This year has gone so fast!!! Life has gone fast.  Some of the kids from my preschool started 6th grade at the middle schools!!!!!  Ella was just 3 the other day it seems!

I sure miss that little girl!!!! I miss all of them.

Last Monday was Labor Day.  We didn't do much but the girls and I laid around all day watching spookie haunted houses on tv.  Chilling out felt good.  Papa took Madi home and then Lauren to have dinner with her friend and then they went to the school for band practice.  You wouldn't think they would have practice on Labor Day but the teacher is different.
Papa made some real good ribs for dinner.

Tuesday was a busy day.  I had a doctor appointment.  We talked a lot but she didn't have my monitor results yet.  So we talked about stuff and they gave me an electrocardiogram while I was there.  She called the next day and told me there were no severe rhythm problems. I do have some extra heart beats here and there and an occasional episode of rapid heart rate. So I go in for an echocardiogram on October 3rd. I am getting checked out pretty good.
Lanny also is getting checked out pretty good, too.  He goes for an echocardiogram on the 13th (next week). He has Artial FlutterThen on the 19th I take him to the hospital and he is getting a electrical cardioversion. It is where they knock him out and then shocks his heart to get it from flutter to normal rhythm. The procedure doesn't take long but we'll be there for about 4 hours until he is awake and we can leave. I have to admit. I am nervous.  The hospital memories are where dad died, where mom died, and the 3 weeks of hell in there with Lanny and his heart issues.  Not good memories.  Dylan is going to try and be there with me. I hope someone will be.

Anyway, while I was at the doctors Lanny was busy. He took Mac home to Lauren and then went to the store.  He bought some safeway chicken for dinner.  num!  And every night we watch Heartland.

Wednesday .... the first day of school for the schools in our area!!!  I guess I missed Josh and Jared's first day which was a week ago and didn't get a picture from Heather.   But I did get pictures of the girls first day of 10th grade!!!!  They are actually Sophomores now!  Time is going so fast!  This year they are all taking chemistry and world history.  Riley is in choir, Madi decided not to and is taking Digital Photography the first half of the year and then Creative Writing (the class she is excited for). Madi isn't taking Sports Med this year but Riley is.  Madi is taking Psychology.  Of course they all have Math and English too. Lauren is in band again this year. Plus she is taking Spanish (which I think she will love!)  I think it will be a good year for all!  Hopefully Riley will start feeling better.  She is quite sore where they cut into her this time.  It is normal what she is experiencing right now.  Praying for a healing soon!!!!

So, on Thursday (yesterday) Papa went to costco to get Costco Dogs and buns.  We are having lunch at Amanda and Lauren's on Sunday.  Seahawks game will be on and great food and visiting and fun!  Love it.  Not everyone can make it but that seems to be the way it goes.  Dylan will be having his tattoo worked on.

I am not a tattoo fan but this one looks pretty awesome! If he ever has to move away he will always have his arm to remember what a beautiful place he is from!!!! Love the Northwest!

Not much going on for a Friday.  Lauren has music after school so Papa is sitting at the counter making a beef stew for dinner.  Can't wait.  I love stew.

It is getting cooler out.  I can feel Fall coming on.  I loved Fall and then I hated Fall for a few years.  Now I am starting to like it a bit.  My mom hated Fall and Winter....basically September thru January. Why?  Well, she hated the snow. She grew up in South Dakota and they had a lot of snow (which is fine when you are a kid but not so great when you are older and have places to go.  Plus the snow here is a lot wetter and slicker than the snow back there).  Her mom died Dec. 17, 1936. Her dad died December 19, 1946.  Her baby, Leonard Jr. died at 15 days old on November 7, 1947.  Her sister, Clarice, died November 18, 1996. And her husband (my dad) died October 5, 2004.  Then she dies September 8, 2011.  All the closest people to her.  No wonder she would get depressed!  She hated death and the end of the year.  The end of anything.  Tomorrow will be 7 years since she died.  It seems so much longer.  I miss her very much.  You can only understand the loss when you have experienced it yourself.  Love my mama!
