Happy New Year... Auld Lang Syne! Old Long Ago!

Auld Lang Syne : Lyrics

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

Chorus.-For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

The song Auld Lang Syne is traditionally sung by most of us on the stroke of midnight each New Years Eve however in Scotland, where Auld Lang Syne originates it is also sung on Burns Night, January 25th, to celebrate the life of the author and famous poet Robert Burns. The lyrics of Auld Lang Syne actually consist of five verses. The words 'Auld Lang Syne' literally translates from old Scottish dialect meaning 'Old Long Ago' and is about love and friendship in times past. The lyrics in the song Auld Lang Syne referring to 'We'll take a Cup of Kindness yet' relate to a drink shared by men and women to symbolise friendship. Happy New Year!!!!

New Year Funnies!

Grabbed a cup of coffee and ready to post.  However, our week has been very quiet. Papa and I wasted it... pretty much. We had a whole week being off work and did nothing. Crazy. Nice. Relaxing. And we didn't kill each other. Prelude to retirement. Not even one fight.
Cleaned the house and Bob and Nancy Keller came to visit yesterday.  That was so nice!!!! They stayed a couple hours and we talked and talked and talked. It was great. We don't get visitors except grand children in this neck of the world.  It is worse with internet, facebook, cell phones... no reason to visit face to face, I guess. The Keller's are so fun and we enjoy their company!
Nancy brought over some almonds with some covering "raw sugar and cinnamon etc". They are sooo good! However. Papa is allergic to something I think. Last night he was throwing up and wheezy and coughing. Not sure if it was allergic reaction or what! He is fine this morning! Weird.
Lauren is spending the night tonight! Excited about that! Thought about having a few friends over but I don't know.
I don't have a lot else to say... but I have some New Years Jokes I thought I would post for your entertainment! Enjoy! Happy New Year!!!! Be careful!

Love you all!!! Mam and Papa

Slow down, you're moving too fast....

Another lazy day. This week is going too fast! I am sure Papa is thinking it though not saying it. The plan today is work on taking down more Christmas stuff, cleaning the den and my dining room table off (again!). I also get to fill a couple calendars out.  Especially Lanny's bathroom calendar, Marcey! lol!  I got calendars for my kids and sisters ... but I didn't fill them out. Getting lazy in my old age!  I did fill out mama's though.

I love this picture!
Maddie would not let me get a serious picture... she kept being goofy!

Maddie went home early yesterday.  It sure was wonderful to spend Maddie and Me time together. I did miss Dylan. And I think Maddie missed Lauren... in the morning she said she forgot and was going to ask me when Lauren was going to get up. lol!

I did get the tree down yesterday. That is kind of sad and makes the house darker. I don't like dark. I love lights.  Always have. I could sleep with lights on!  I've always been afraid of the dark. Maybe because I am totally blind in the dark. Papa can walk through a dark room and know exactly where he is going. I trip and stumble and bump into everything in the room. I hate it. One of my biggest fears is going blind. Darkness all the time. It is claustrophobic too!!! Which I also have! I hate movies where someone is locked in a casket! My nightmare.

Enough of that!!!! I am freaking myself out! On to lighter things (lol... I just made a funny).... I am really enjoying my new blog "Talk about the Word". I love how God leads me into different things I need to know.  I hope you are taking the time to check it out once in awhile... and pray it blesses you like it does me!  My grandson, Andrew, is doing great with his too!

I really need to start taking care of myself. Papa mentioned how we need to do this. Things have gotten a bit slack around here. Still implementing things we've changed (no salt, healthier subs, etc) but we haven't kicked it up a notch  and I have slackened a bit on some things. Which I cannot afford to do!  I haven't been checking my blood sugar count like I'm suppose to... nor walking as much because of my heel. Poor excuse because I have a indoor and outdoor bike and a treadmill. Whatever.  My daughter is going to start putting herself first.... maybe I should too.

Just checked for snow again....nothing. I was hoping to wake up to a winter wonderland. It isn't raining or snowing or nothing. Oh well.

Stay tuned for my best and worst of 2010 coming soon!  Gotta go... don't "gotta" but I am out of things to say!!!!  Love to all!

Weather to Expect: Spot snow or mixed showers through the morning, easing later except in the central and north Sound where some convergence zone showers could continue into this evening. We aren't looking for more than an inch total. High temperatures fall from near 40 to the mid 30s this afternoon. Sunny and cold weather is in the outlook to finish off 2010 and start the new year. The next rain threatens late Sunday.

Maddie and Mam say Good Morning!

I am lucky. I am snuggling with Maddiloo this morning! Kissing and hugging and just loving our morning as we check blogs and look at our Christmas tree. Animals have been fed. Cat is out. Dog and papa in bed. All is good this morning.  Maddie has the giggles.  Probably because she couldn't go to sleep last night... she went to bed with me  (I snored she said). Then she woke up at 3 am and slept on couch. Then woke up at 5 and came in and turned out my light. It freaked me out. She came back at 5:30 to sneak in my side of the bed. We cuddled 2 minutes and all said that is enough and got out of bed. Been up ever since. I see naps in my future. lol!
Maddie and her snuggly
Yesterday after she got here we took Toby for a walk. Not too far because there were doberman's walking up the road....another dog loose on another road.  Don't need him in a fight while healing! The vet, Julie, called yesterday. She said that the white count was so high they don't know why... but the antibiotic appears to be working.  After a month of taking them... if he gets sick again we will know there is a bigger problem. Still praying! So happy for now!
Is Maddie walking Toby? Or is Toby walking Maddie?

It was a little cold!

She played with Gregory alot yesterday. He came over and we played the question game. It is so fun... everything you say has to be in a question... the first to blow it is out.  I got him every time. I would say things like "Where did you get that shirt?" He would answer.  He lost. lol! He did pretty good most of the time... so did Maddie.
Maddie having an ice cream bar.
Maddie laughs every time she sees this clip.... enjoy!!! We went on Maddie's facebook and YouTube and put videos of Nemo and Shrek on her facebook. We had lots of laughs and fun. Maddie, Papa and I watched Frosty the Snowman last night because she hadn't seen it this year.

Well... that was our day yesterday.  Today Maddie leaves at ten to go to lunch with her family. Mam has to start cleaning. yuk. boohoo maddie said.
Have a good day! Snow may come still! xoxo

Will it snow to help my mood? Maddie will for sure!!!

I have got a gorgeous grand daughter... Maddie... coming to spend the night. She wants to spend time with us and they are talking snow this week so she wants to make sure she gets time here! I am happy!  Dylan may come but to quote Karla's blog :
Dylan has been holed up in his room for hours playing his video games. He comes down for food only. I told Joel if he keeps this up then one day he'll come down and we won't recognize him - he'll be 6 inches taller with a beard.
I laughed when I read this! He may not leave his room so I may not see him.  I totally understand. At least I am working on it as the kids get older! They sometimes have other things to do. ;D

I need to start taking down some of my Christmas. There is so much. When I take it down I clean and rearrange etc.... and what is tough is Papa is home all week!  That makes it hard to clean for me. He doesn't work at Walmart either until Friday night. Pray we don't kill each other. lol!  I will just keep going back to what I wrote about him a few days ago when he starts bugging me!

Many of you have seen this video of Lauren and Maddie with Christmas over... but I wanted to show it again because it is one of my favorites. Enjoy!

Toby seems back to normal!!! He is playing and eating and seems happy!!! Which I have gotten a few tears over!  I am praising God for sure!!!

I get very melancholy this time of year. I am not the only one I am sure! We are out of money.  The Christmas lights coming down make things darker. You look back over the year of highs and lows.  You wonder what the year ahead will bring with anticipation and a bit of dread.  This is when I need to focus on my blessings.  I will be posting about my great year soon. But today I must clean!

My bff, Candice, will be leaving to go back East. She's been in Seattle during the Christmas Story run in Seattle.  She is in the quartet that sings during the play. I didn't get to see it... tickets are very expensive. I didn't get to see her.  She is very busy.  I got texts from her but we won't connect. Another thing that makes me kind of sad.  Oh well.... it is nice she is working! It is hard for everyone to get work.... including actresses.  She was 1993 Miss Atlanta  and has done lots of singing and stuff.

Candice in the Christmas Story

The 5th Avenue...

Me with my 2 bff's Candice and Sharon and daughter Tara a couple years ago!
Candice with Donny and Marie! I would love to meet Marie!

Candice in Miss Saigon on Broadway.
I am just missing her. She can always make me laugh!!!  Always!!!  I need that right now!

We went to church yesterday and it was so awesome!!!!  Seeing all our old friends... Bob Keller, the Jacob family, Louie, Kurt, Ashley and Holly, Donna, the Hill's etc... it was awesome.
Brian Jacobs wrote his first book in a series of books called "Enigma Squad". This one is "The Case of the Old Man in the Mailbox".  They are for kids.... but I am reading it. I will let him know if I like it. And I will let him know if I don't. lol!  He autographed it "Joyce - To my favorite pain-in-the-butt!" He's still sore over me beating him at cribbage. lol! You can order the book from Amazon or Barnes and Noble websites!  It is good so far.
Brian
Well... Maddie is here! Gotta go ... just posting a final picture of someone I have been thinking about lately!!!  Have a great day today!!!

I am really missing Mary!!!! My friend, Addie, made this photo for me. Isn't it beautiful! Such a sweet keepsake!

It was a Holly Jolly Christmas!

Taken Christmas Day 2010

Christmas was wonderful.  For many reasons...
1. The day of our sweet Saviors birth...without Him we are nothing.
2. My mom had a wonderful Chrismtas! I almost cried... she gave me the tightest hug when we took her home and thanked me for making her Christmas special. I will never forget it.
3. The rest of the family had a great Christmas... especially the grand babies!
4. We got home last night and Toby was frisky and ate dry food!!!! Amen to that!
5. God is always good... all the time. ;D
6. My BFF GEORGIA girls called to wish me and Papa a Merry Christmas! That was such a surprise and so wonderful to hear their voices!!!! Love you girls!

Our day started out with phone calls and excitement!  I love hearing from the kids and how their Christmas is going!
We went to pick up mom and stopped by Kevons to give him their calendar and Christmas hugs!
Then we went to Don and Lois's and had the most wonderful roast beast (I mean beef) dinner with roasted potatoes and carrots...nummmm! Loved it! Thank you sis!
Took lots of pictures! Had lots of laughs. Felt a little sad at times... I missed Donny. I could picture him there with us laughing at the table. I cried on the way home. Mom was so tired by the time we started to head home. Her feet seemed swollen too. But she sure enjoyed her time at Culton's!!!!
Mama enjoying herself!

Three generation Mom, Lois and Denise

The Culton family!

Brother-in-laws

Lois and Don...awesome hosts! Thank you!!!

Stopped by the other Black's to give them their calendar. Ryan brought their puppy out to show mom and I think she fell in love!  She got more Christmas hugs and licks from the puppy!
Dropped off Karla's calendar but they weren't home. :(   Took mom home and came home to a quiet evening. So quiet I was in bed by 8! lol!
Today we are going to church and then nothing. ;D  Hope you had a blessed Christmas and a wonderful day today!
Here are our pictures from the Christmas morning:
Toby always gets a Santa for Christmas!
