memories...april 30

April 30, 1983. My new perm. I really hated it. I don't know why I did that... my midlife crisis period?
I won't even tell you what Shorty called me!!!!
April 30, 2004.... Lauren and Maddie eating noodles.... I remember these days.
It makes me sad and missing those times!!!!

wednesday

Today is Wednesday and the only person on my prayer list besides the prayers to the right is Waverly, Lanny's mama. Some of you are asking how she is doing. She is ok. Her voice seems stronger the last 2 days we talked to her. She is a woman determined to get things done right now....that is her goal. Sadly, she has had to set a date when Michael will go live with his dad....June 1st. That is really tough. I cried when I hung up the phone. I don't know how she will do it. I guess when there is no choice you do what you have to do. Please pray for her. This seems strange...but if you know the situation...she has asked us to pray that Michael goes to be with Jesus before that day. He won't last long without mom. Not that Jack won't take good care of him and love him.... but he shuts down without mom and won't even eat. This whole thing sucks. But we won't stop praying!!!

On a better note.... Papa lost 4 pounds this week! I think that really encouraged him. So far there have been no gains in the group....check out our website. Yesterday I bought groceries and stocked the freezer....made some meatballs, a meatloaf, etc... that kind of stuff. Went and got my tooth fixed. Dr. Stewart smiled and shook his head. I got the lecture from everyone and I promised the doc I would stop chewing ice. That is going to be so hard! I can't believe what it habit it is! Last night we went out to eat with Ryan’s family and I made Andrew take the ice out of my glass. He wasn't feeling well last night. You could see it in his eyes and he was chilled and he ached. Keep him in your prayers. And Lauren kept saying she was going to puke.... so I took her to the bathroom and Ryan did.... but she didn't. Ryan thinks she gets confused and whenever her stomach hurts a bit she thinks she is going to puke. Today should be a pretty mellow day.... just cleaning. I am behind... especially in our bathroom! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Our weather:

  1. Today: Partly sunny with a chance of showers, easing later. Mid 50s. South wind to 10 mph. Tonight: Still a chance of some spot showers this evening, then mostly cloudy and drier. Lows in the upper 30s.
  2. Thursday: Mostly sunny. Warming to around 60.
  3. Friday: Rain developing, more likely during the afternoon. High 50s.
  4. Saturday: A few morning showers then partly sunny. Highs near 60.
  5. Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny, highs in the lower 60s.
  6. Monday: More clouds. Shower chance increases. Highs stay in the lower 60's.

Power!!!

"I wish there was something I could do." Do you sometimes think that when you see someone suffering or experiencing a difficult time? I have. There is something you can do. Pray! Prayer makes a difference! That is why I post my prayer lists....hoping others pray also! God promises that our prayers are powerful and effective. But before we come to God...confess our sins and ask forgiveness so you stand before God clean and righteous. It makes a difference!!!

memories from past april 29ths!

4-29-2000 Patrick with Grandma Virginia
Jordy taken the same day....8 years ago at church!

Maddie loved chewing on sausage links...2004

Parker and Patrick having a blast on 4-29-2005!

Riley fell asleep 2005

And again in 2006...must be a sleepy date for her!

This was the coldest game I have ever attended! It was freezing rain and wind. Poor Andrew!!!! April 29, 2006!

Here is Papa, Lauren and I at the same game trying so hard to stay warm!

tuesday and papa's home tonight!

Tuesday morning and the 29th.....I am also praying for my grandson - Dylan, Lanny's brother - Michael, our friend - Lester, and my cousin Don Tuff and a very sweet girl from church who helps in KidStuf - Ashley!

Today I have to go get groceries for this house. Feels like we are out of everything! Then I have an appointment for Meghan to put a temporary cap on the tooth I chipped in the back. It doesn't hurt....my tongue just goes there 24/7 now. Went to Dylan's game last night....they won again. It was a good game...not as fun because it was SO cold!!!! In the pictures you can see Dave & Cheryll in the bleachers freezing, Maddie wrapped in Papa's windbreaker, and us outfield. The wind was blowing right at us so we ended up outfield and back into the spot so we could sit in the back of the van and Kevon's truck. It kind of took us out of the game and excitement...but we were warmer and Marin and Maddie watched a video...so it was all good anyway. It's funny....it was warm at my house before I left...Papa even barb-b-ques burgers for dinner. I ate outside. I spent most of the day doing laundry and working on this potluck for Sunday. It will be fun.

Ok....I am soooo excited! I lost 5 lbs this week!!! Maybe I am back on the right path again!!! I am being more careful during the day and only eating when I am hungry instead of by the clock. I think that helps! Wonder how everyone else did? Papa forgot and was going to weigh with clothes & shoes on again...I told him to wait until tomorrow morning. Well..... going to take a shower and go shopping. Have a great day today! Try to stay warm!!!!!

  1. Today: Cool showers and sunbreaks. Highs in the lower 50s. Southwest wind 5-15 mph.Tonight: Showers likely, especially in the Puget Sound Convergence Zone north of Seattle. Lows drop to the upper 30s.

  2. Wednesday: Partly sunny with showers easing later. Highs in the lower to middle 50s.

  3. Thursday: Mostly sunny and warmer. High 50s.

  4. Friday: Rain at times. High 50s.

very good......do you need to forgive?

THE CHOICE OF FORGIVENESS
Most of the ground that Satan gains in the lives of Christians is due to unforgiveness. We are warned to forgive others so that Satan cannot take advantage of us (2 Corinthians 2:10, 11). Why is forgiveness so critical? Because of the cross. God didn't give us what we deserve ; He gave us what we needed according to His mercy. We are to be merciful just as our heavenly Father is merciful (Luke 6:36). We are to forgive as we have been forgiven (Ephesians 4:31, 32).
Forgiveness is not forgetting. People who try to forget find that they cannot. God says He will "remember no more" our sins (Hebrews 10:17), but God, being omniscient, cannot forget. "Remember no more" means that God will never use the past against us (Psalm 103:12). Forgetting may be a result of forgiveness, but it is never the means of forgiveness. When we bring up the past and use it against others, we haven't forgiven them.
Forgiveness is a choice, a crisis of the will. We choose to face and acknowledge the hurt and the hate in order to forgive from the heart. Since God requires us to forgive, it is something we can do. (He would never require us to do something we cannot do.) But forgiveness is difficult for us because it pulls against our concept of justice. We want revenge for offenses suffered. But we are told never to take our own revenge (Romans 12:19). "Why should I let them off the hook?" we protest. You let them off your hook, but they are never off God's hook. He will deal with them fairly--something we cannot do.
If you don't let offenders off your hook, you are hooked to them and the past, and that just means continued pain for you. Stop the pain; let it go. You don't forgive someone merely for their sake; you do it for your sake so you can be free. Your need to forgive isn't an issue between you and the offender; it's between you and God.

a drizzly monday morning

This morning I am praying for our grandson, Andrew, my Mom, great-nephew Carter, and cousin....wrestler Grant Dollar!

Had a another great day yesterday! Took Andrew, Lauren, Maddie and Dylan to KidStuf! Lauren really got on stage and danced and wasn't scared at all! She got up there like a pro! It amazed me, awed me, and touched my heart! Maddie even got up on the last song...Nanaheyhey! It was too cute! I am going to put the video's on my photobucket today....I have a link on my site here. After KidStuf we went to ToysRUs. Karla had given Dylan $20 so each kid could spend $5 each! The girls were easy. Had to take the boys to Target to spend theirs. Then we went to Central Market and had lunch. Dropped off Dylan & Maddie and came home. Amanda and the kids spent the afternoon with us...and Amanda made us dinner! We had halibut. It was so nummy and I over ate!!! After they went home Papa watched 24 and I watched the Big Brother finale. Not overly impressed. I wish they would ask more and tougher questions like Jeff Probst does on survivor. Oh well. Today is a major cleaning day. Too busy to clean this weekend! I chipped my tooth in the back so Kevon and Meghan came over and she took a look at it. I have to call this morning and go in and have her put a temporary cap on it. You're all wondering if I did it on ice, I imagine. Well, I was chewing ice at the time but that doesn't mean it was the ice that chipped it. It might have happened anyway. lol. Dylan has a game tonight! Hope he doesn't get rained out. Have a great day today.

Here's your weather for today:
Today: Wet and breezy. Increasing rain after morning showers. Highs in the mid 50s. Southwest wind increasing to 15-25 mph.
Tonight: Showers likely. Lows near 40. Wind eases to southwest 10-20 mph.
The first half of the work-week will be soggy as a low moves over the Pacific Northwest today with a front that brings increasing rain and wind. Showers continue through Wednesday with a break Thursday as skies dry and the sun returns. Friday switches back to a mix of sun anhd showers ahead of another round of showers and sunbreaks for the weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a Snow Advisory for this afternoon and tonight in the North Cascades. Expect up to 10-inches of snow there, but much less in the Central Cascade passes... more like a couple inches of snow this afternoon.

Do you honor your parents?

Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and your mother.

God gave us the Ten Commandments. So you can best appreciate the significance of the command to honor parents, note that the first four commandments dealt with how man relates to God. With these mandates, God established that He is the One who should be exalted above anyone or anything else. A nation's life, and an individual's life, is defined by its relationship with God.
Then comes the fifth commandment, and I don't think that's by coincidence. Honoring parents should be a direct result of our faith in God.
Look carefully at the commandment again. Whom did God command us to honor? Only perfect parents? Only Christian parents? Parents who are spiritually mature and insightful? Only parents who never made major mistakes in rearing us?
No! God commands us to honor our parents regardless of their performances, behaviors and dysfunctions. Why? Because honoring parents demands that we walk by faith. How do you treat your parents. How do you wanted to be treated AS parents? Your kids are watching how you treat your parents.....and listening. Ask God to give you the strength to trust Him and help you in this area and show you practical ways to honor your parents.

sunday morning already!

Sandy is very happy when her people are around!!!!

Papa loves watching his grandkids!

Andrew watching the game from the van!

Marin...our adopted granddaughter!

Maddie poking out of the sunroof during the game!

Lauren is playing with her DS during the game!

Don't tell Dylan...but Papa is the only one really paying attention to the game!

The baseball star, Dylan! Seems he's looking more and more like his dad! Especially in this picture!!!

Well....I keep trying to simplify things on this. Don't know if I am succeeding or just making things more complicated. I put my everyday prayers to the side and changing ones in my journal entry. See if it helps. Today I am praying for my favorite cousin Bob, sweet friend Shawna, and one of Papa's favorite people and good friend Bob Keller! Thank you for those who pray along with me on all my requests each day!

Yesterday was a great day!!!! Andrew and Lauren spent the week-end and had baths in the morning...then Ryan & Amanda called and we picked them up in Silverdale while their Durango was getting repaired. Took them home and then we picked up Maddie and went to WalMart. Saw Papa and got some lunch. Took it to the ballpark and ate....then Karla came and we took the kids for ice cream cones since we had time to kill. The game was great! Dylan got a hit which got him on base and scored a runner! They won of course!!!! Both Patrick and Dylan's teams are undefeated now. I think Jo is right up there too! Good season! The girls played in the van most of the game. They loved that. Kevon & Meghan were at the game and Joel's parents. We came home for awhile and then went to church. We have a great Saturday night service from 6-7. Then we stayed for rehearsal and Lauren danced with the kids. They had a great night! Today we just have kidstuf and no other plans. Which is good since I got up at 3:30 with an itchy foot and couldn't go back to sleep. How weird is that? Well...best wrap this up! Have a wonderful Sunday...hope you get to church! It really is fun!

Sunday's weather in the great Northwest!

Sunday morning look for partly cloudy skies changing over to mostly cloudy with an increasing chance of rain in the afternoon/late evening. The incoming system opens the door for more rain and cooler temperatures Monday and Tuesday with a chance of morning showers on Wednesday. Best chance for dry conditions this week will be Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. A chance of shower exists Thursday night through Friday as well.

Sharing Christ

I'm sure you've heard it said: "No one has the right to force their views on someone else!" Well, ask yourself, "Where would I be today if the person who introduced me to Christ had minded their own business?'"

You can share Christ in a gentle spirit of love. You aren't "forcing" your views on anyone. When you speak gently and lovingly - the hearer is free to listen, change the subject, or even move away. Through Christ you have the ability to bring many to give their hearts to Christ. Whenever you find yourself in this kind of situation, pray silently that God would bind Satan and allow the person to hear the message and make a free choice.

It's most definitely a spiritual battle, but be assured: If Satan is causing problems - he's worried!

a beautiful saturday morning!

It is so pretty out this morning! It is a shame Papa has to go to work. However...it goes fast for him and it's not so bad in the mornings. It is after 7 am and Andrew & Lauren spent the night and are still asleep. That is good. They were up a bit late last night. Tucked Lauren in at 9:30 and went to bed. Andrew stayed up later...not sure what time he stopped watching Naruto. I record them for him on Saturday nights. So he had some catching up to do. Sandy is so happy right now! I just have to stop her from waking them up right now. Didn't do much yesterday. Karla came over with Maddie and Jonah (from school). She showed me how to link the pictures into my site! So stinkin' cool! That way.... if you're not sure who I am talking about....click on their name and you will see! Pretty trick! Cleaned under the bathroom sink and started on the bathroom. Will finish this morning. This afternoon Dylan has a game. I love them. I am finally feeling better today. This has been a rough week with this cold. Tonight we are going to church at 6 and then rehearsal tonight. Susan is gone the next two weeks so I will be filling in. Papa misses everyone too. He hasn't seen the KidStuf people at all this month! I am separating prayer requests, weather, journal, pictures of the day, and my God time again... it makes it simpler to blog and I can still keep it. Easier for you all to read too, I think. Well, have a wonderful day today!!!! God bless and enjoy the sunshine while it is here!

weather around here....

Weather Summary: Skies are clearing as high pressure builds over western Washington. Saturday will be warm and dry due to the combination of high pressure and offshore flow. This weather duet will bring highs into the upper 60s and low 70s. A frontal system brewing in the Pacific will attempt to crash our Spring party this weekend. The warm front will increase cloud cover late Saturday and may bring spotty showers to the coast late Saturday night. Sunday will be partly to mostly cloudy with an increasing chance of rain in the afternoon. The incoming system opens the door for more rain and cooler temperatures Monday and Tuesday.

can you hear?

At any time, how receptive your heart is will determine your response to God's word. If your heart has been trampled, and harden by bitterness and unforgiveness, then receiving God's message for you will become more difficult. Repent of any bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, or any other sin that is hardening your heart! Seek the power of God to search your heart thoroughly! Then ask His forgiveness. Open your heart to Him!

yippee...it is Friday!

I like Friday's! My plans for today are to clean the house. Kind of let it go a bit. I have some sugar ants in the bathroom I have to figure out how to get rid of. I tried bay leaves, apple peals....and nothing has worked yet! Frustrating. As I wrote below....I got through my dental appointment. It' isn't sore or anything now. Still have the cold. Stinks. I get so stressed at the dentist and cling to the arms of the chair the whole time....I find it very hard to relax. So with that and my cold I was wiped out in the afternoon and took an hour and a half nap! Made a turkey, rice & carrot casserole last night I just made up...it turned out pretty good. Oh, by the way....I am so mad and frustrated at the dummies in Survivor this year. Two prideful guys got voted out because they didn't use the Immunity Idol's they had. And then the idiots left and not in the clique of ladies....James, Eric, Jason and Amanda....why didn't they join forces to kick out Parvati??? Duh? It would have happened, too. THERE was the dumbest move in Survivor history. Plus American Idol is another one I am frustrated with. Carly? I thought she would make it to the final 2. Why is dreadlocks still there??? It is a popularity vote. Those teenyboppers and texting votes in like crazy. Well...that wraps up my life. Hope you like the new layout and it is easier on the eyes? Have a great day!!! I mean it!

  1. PRAY FOR LANNY'S MOM, WAVERLY. SHE IS HAVING SOME DIFFICULTY & PAIN!
  2. PRAY FOR SISTER RITA, LANNY, BROTHERS KERN & MICHAEL, AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY THAT LOVES HER.
  3. PRAY FOR TERRI PHELPS & PAT NICHOLSON'S CANCER TREATMENT
  4. PRAY FOR CURE FOR CANCER, AUTISM AND SARCOIDOSIS
  5. PRAY FOR PROTECTION FOR JUSTIN IN IRAQ!
  6. PRAY FOR CANDICE, PATTY JACOBS
  7. CLEAN BEDROOM & OUR BATH

Weather Summary: The timing is perfect for Spring weather this weekend, starting today as high pressure builds and clouds part. Mostly sunny near 70 in some areas tomorrow. The weekend turns a little soggy on the coast Sunday as an incoming weather system spreads more clouds our way... with the rain chance rising Sunday evening. Next week looks wet with some sunbreaks.

  1. Friday: Becoming partly sunny with just a chance of some morning sprinkles north Sound and along the coast. Mountain snow showers will ease this afternoon. High 50s. South wind 10 mph becoming light. Tonight: Continued clearing. Lows near 40.
  2. Saturday: Mostly sunny, and warmer. High 60s. Sunday: More clouds, but dry most of the day, except coastal rain that will move inland
  3. Sunday evening. Highs in the mid 60s.
  4. Monday & Tuesday: Areas of rain Monday changing to showers with sunbreaks Tuesday. Highs in the mid 50s.

Act the same always....

Don't separate your faith from the rest of your life. Integrate your faith fully into your lifestyle by following God's guidance in every part of your life. Remember that your faith isn't just about what you do at any given time or place; it shapes who you are and who you're becoming as a whole person. As you interact with the culture, your faith should naturally influence all of your decisions.

it is finished

I am done at the dentist. they worked on the right front. Do you know how bad shots hurt in the front???? I don't think Dr. Stewart does! Owie! Don't go back until July 3rd. Besides needing a break....he is SO busy! He is great. Have you heard of a woman loving her gynecologist or psychiatrist? I love my dentist. lol!!! Thanks for your prayers!

This picture taken of all 8 was taken 4-24-04....4 years ago!
This was before Josh and Jared, of course!
Taken now....Parker & Patrick would have full laps too!

forecast...

  1. Today: Partly sunny, with showers limited to the mountains for the most part. Highs in the mid 50s. Southwest wind 10-15 mph. Tonight: A few showers, mainly north, mostly cloudy skies and lows near 40.
  2. Friday: Partly sunny, and just a slight chance of a shower. High 50s.
  3. Saturday: Partly sunny and warmer. Highs in the middle 60s.
  4. Sunday: Partly sunny with a chance of rain on the coast. Mid 60s.
  5. Monday & Tuesday: A good chance of rain and showers. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
  6. Weather Summary: Just a few stubborn mountain showers today, otherwise Western Washington looks dry with mostly cloudy skies and some sunbreaks. Tonight a weak low north of the city puts a threat of an occasional shower over the North Sound areas... possibly lingering into early tomorrow. Otherwise the trend is for better weather through the weekend, except for a chance of some coastal rain, especially Sunday. We get another dose of showers in Seattle Monday and Tuesday.

yuk!!!!

ohhhhh...i don't feel good. i ache and i feel a cold in my head and chest. and i go to the dentist to sit in a chair for a few hours. pray for me. i did get some good news...i will find out about that job in the next 10 days so i will be patient. yesterday was a good day.... papa was home all day. we talked to his mom.....she wears out faster. she went and got all the funeral arrangements done yesterday so that is done. Aunt Yvonne and Dick came down to see her. That was good....but they the humidity was so hard on him they couldn't stay long. That's too bad. She also mentioned she may have to give Michael up to Jack soon. She's getting so she can't lift him to change his diaper anymore. This whole situation is so heartbreaking. Keep praying. Lanny watched Season 1 Disc 1 of the series "24". He loves that show....hopes to catch up. Amanda and the kids came over for a bit. It is always good to see them! Sandy freaks out when she see's them....especially Amanda. Well, that's about it. Hope your day is good....i'm sure it will be better than mine! lol!

SATAN'S THREEFOLD TEMPTATION

You will be better prepared to resist temptation in your life when you realize that, according to the Scriptures, there are only three channels through which Satan will entice you to act independently of God. The three channels of temptation are the lust of the flesh , the lust of the eyes , and the pride of life . The lust of the flesh preys on our physical appetites and their gratifications in this world. The lust of the eyes appeals to self-interest and tests the Word of God. The pride of life stresses self-promotion and self-exaltation. Satan confronted both Adam and the Jesus through each of these three channels of temptation. Notice how Satan used precisely those three channels to deceive Eve: "When the woman saw that the tree was good for food [lust of the flesh], and that it was a delight to the eyes [lust of the eyes], and that the tree was desirable to make one wise [pride of life], she took from its fruit and ate" (Genesis 3:6).
Adam failed miserably and we still suffer the results of his failure. But Jesus Christ met Satan's threefold temptation head-on and succeeded triumphantly. In Him we have the resources and the power to conquer every temptation Satan throws at us.
Prayer:
Dear God, please tear down any pride or self-deception I may have concerning Satan's strategies of temptation. I know I can never become complacent about spiritual warfare.
