Thanksgiving and Snow!

Oh, it would be so wonderful to have all the kids and grandkids here on Thanksgiving but it wasn't meant to be.  Instead we had us two, Kevon, and my nieces Alyssa and Jessica.  It was perfect!!!! We had the best time!  Just a small intimate fun time! Kevon and I were joking how it was so perfect maybe we should do it Christmas.  I said draw names....he said "No, they would have to make the cut depending on how nice they were during the year." haha! He is so funny!  I wonder how much that would tone down the list? jk

We did have a fun time.  Dinner turned out so good.  The green bean bake I added a little onion, bacon, bacon gravy with a few dabs of Worces. Sauce!  Wow it was amazing. Aly even had seconds on it.  And Kevon and I loved the stuffing!  It had sausage, onion, celery, and a little worces. sauce too.  Nummy. I added sour cream to the mashed potatoes and didn't care for it as much. Should have stopped while I was ahead.  Plus I made way too much food for 5 people.  What can I say? I am full blooded Norwegian and we always over make.

Dylan came over for a while.  That was fun.  Lots of laughs.  Kevon and Dylan have officially challenged the other for a football game.  Dylan picked Pat for his team. Kevon and him were going to race but Dylan didn't have his "running shoes" on.  Kev teased him a lot on that.

After dinner we watched a little tv and then me, Kev, Aly and Jessie played Sorry. Aly claimed she always wins... well, Jessica won!  Then we played Spoons and Jess had mentioned how she never got letters at this game. Guess who lost.  Jessica.  The laughter and fun so so worth it!  I felt bad for Kevon though. He was so sick.  He said he felt like he was getting a cold and then his allergy to our cat doesn't help. He didn't sit where the cat sits or was around it but the cat lives here. What can you do?  I had bought the girls fuzzy blankets last year at Christmas and didn't see them so I gave them to them on Thanksgiving.  They seemed to like them.

Kevon left before the Seahawks game started but the girls stayed until after the game around 9 p.m. They got really comfy.  I loved having them here. So did Lanny and Kevon.  They are so polite, funny and kind!  Great teenagers. Great people!!!! Annette (their mom) should be very proud of the job she has done.  I tried to reach their dad (bro. David) for over a week every day to join us but he didn't answer or text me back.

Fun time!  The next morning papa ran to the store. Brave soul to go to Walmart on Black Friday but he said it was weird. There were more cashiers than there were customers.  He got the few things we would need and we relaxed and took a nap.  I can't believe how tired we get after entertaining.

Friday night it snowed!  Woke up around 5:30 to snow on the ground and coming down. It was still dark out but our outside Christmas lights were on so it was real pretty!

The wind blew snow inside the deck.  We put the dogs out and papa fed them. We have enjoyed having these two granddogs here this weekend.  Sandy is like our own dog.  We adore her. Her and Toby were soooooo close!  I wonder if she misses him now that she is here?  We don't put the dogs with Scruffy because he isn't nice with other dogs. He is a bit territorial. But the dogs have the laundry room with their beds, food and water and they are plenty happy and warm. They go to bed so nice and don't bark at night.  Mac has had no potty accidents! He only barks sometimes at our cat. Not sure what to think of that cat!  They don't have one. But the dogs love our fenced yard and Mac runs all over it checking everything out. The neighbor guy throws treats for them over the fence. They like that. They seem to like the snow too!

Papa splits a can of canned food for them in the mornings and they really love it!  Papa spoils these granddogs!  Our dog doesn't like canned dog food. And our cat won't eat people food. Strange, huh? We'll be saying goodbye to the doggies tomorrow. :(  We love them!

Our coffee had just finished brewing and the cable and power went out!  It was out for a couple hours which wasn't bad.  And we had hot coffee, pets were cared for and settled back down. All was right with our world.

The snow is still here. We ended up with about 2 inches is all. But the wind sure blew yesterday! It was cold. Cold today too.  The roads were icy.  We stayed comfy cozy in our home.

Well, that is about all the news around here.  Hope you all stay warm!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

I am so excited it is finally here!  In about an hour we will be putting the dinner we prepared in the oven and the turkey out to rest.  It's tired.  Kevon, Alyssa and Jessica are coming over in just over an hour.  I can't wait to see them.  I did try to reach my brother for the past week to invite him but he isn't answering his phone or talking to me still so his loss.  I am so blessed I get to spend today with his girls.  I love them so much!

I called and talked to my brother Rick, my sister Lois, Lanny's sis Rhonda, Karla, Tara, Dylan, and left messages for Libby and Douglas.  Heather called earlier. They are going to Spokane for brunch and then she is having Thanksgiving at her house. And we got a call from Andrew and Lauren from California! They are having dinner at his grandma's this year down in sunny Cali!  He said it was 70 and they were in flip flop and shorts.  Lucky dogs!   So I will have talked to everyone or contacted everyone.  We still have to call Lanny's other sis, Rita, later.  I am so thankful for these people being in my life. God has blessed me so much.  I get teary eyed because I really don't feel I deserve it all!  Good thing it isn't up to me.  God's love and goodness and blessings are so much more than we can even fathom or imagine. Boggles the mind.

Yesterday I was driving to the grocery store to buy for Thanksgiving. Papa had an upset stomach so I went by myself.  God blessed me with a beautiful view crossing the bridge of different colors and clouds.  The I was almost to town and saw an amazing sunrise coming up with clouds and multiple colors in the sky and the song "I Can Only Imagine" was playing on the radio.  My eyes filled with tears. It touched my heart as I thought about His goodness.  I thanked Him.

Boy, I hope I don't get all emotional and cry today.  I looked at the picture and posted it on facebook of my mama's last Thanksgiving.  I am so glad I love to take pictures and I have this one.  She wasn't feeling that well and wasn't up to going to Tara's so she stayed home.  I felt bad her being alone but she insisted and she insisted I bring her a plate.  lol!  So Tara made her a plate with the turkey wings. It was always mama's favorite part of the turkey and it is what she always got.   So we took her dinner and here she is eating one of her wings and dinner. We stayed with her and watched tv for awhile and visited.  It was exactly how she wanted to spend it. Happy woman.

Well, enjoy your turkey and food, family, and don't forget FOOTBALL!  Go Seahawks!!!!

Top ten Tuesday

I skipped Monday. I really just relaxed and deleted duplicate pictures and just messed with them all day.  I didn't get online until late afternoon.  Just one of those days.

Thinking about my top 10 favorite colors and why....
1. Yellow.  I have always liked yellow ever since my mama told me I looked good in yellow when I was little.  Plus it is a sunny, happy color!  It is bright and reminds me of summer!  I hate lemons, though. Yellow rose reminds me of my mom and dad's love. Mama loved yellow roses and when he died a yellow rose bloomed at her home.

2. I love the color blue.  There are so many shades of blue...turquoise, sky, royal, navy...and I love them all.  There is no ugly blue.  I love blue decorations too. Papa hangs blue and white tinsel lights outside.  I love blue eyes! I have a son with gorgeous blue eyes.

3.   I  love greens.  That is probably why I live in the Northwest where it is so green and pretty. We have pine and fir trees everywhere. Grass stays green most of the year.  Don't mind the rain because it is what makes it green. I love driving down a strip of road going to my home and you see about 1 million shades of green! Different trees, plants, grass, ferns, and bushes.  Plus the Seahawks are blue and green!!!!

4.  Red is a very pretty color.  It is good at Christmas!
5.  Pink. A lot of people don't like pink but it is really a pretty color and in many shades too.
6.  Purple. Red and blue combined.
7.  I like white.  Some say it isn't a color but it is such a clean color. I think it is a color.  I can't seem to stop saying color.
8. I like black in clothes.  I would rather wear black than any other color.  As long as the animals stay away before I walk out the door.
9.  I like silver. My van is silver and I like the color.  I like silver on Christmas trees.  I like silver in jewelry (not that I wear much).
10. Finally, I don't really like browns or oranges except in the fall.  They are beautiful in the fall and I can look at the all day.

I am just relaxing before dinner.  Waiting for our house guests.  We will be dog sitting!  I am excited. I am just praying Scruffy behaves himself.  Never know how it will go.  I think he will be fine. And our cat already knows one of the dogs so he should be fine.

Well, I hope I better go. They will be here any time now.  Hope you have a great day preparing for a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!

Here is my Tired Tuesday photo's I wanted to share before signing off!

What a win, win, win day!!!!

That am I thankful for today??? A couple things come to my mind.  First the Seahawks won! We've been biting our nails lately!!!  Russell Wilson got sacked 7 times today. That is insane!  He doesn't have much for protection and he is waiting too long to throw. Making us crazy.  And we're worried about Marshawn Lynch. He's been hurting pretty  bad but still going out and busting his chops.

My nephew Justin and his wife Denika were at the game today!

The other thing I am MORE excited about is now there will be 5 here for Thanksgiving dinner!!! Me, Papa, Kevon AND Alyssa and Jessica (my nieces...David's girls)! I am so happy! I just love these girls so much! They are the sweetest, kindest, most beautiful nieces in the world!!!!

Today I FINISHED!  Decorations are up. Added more lights to please me. Put papa's up for him in the den so it feels Christmassy in there!  He was walking Scruffy so I hurried and put more on the tree too. He loves lights! He was surprised and he just kissed my forehead for doing it. Awe.... how sweet. He is making dinner and the Dallas and Giants game is on. It is a cozy, cozy night.  I like it.

Heather is at home making cookies with her boys.  I sure miss them a lot!  Seems like forever since we've seen them!

I miss all my grandbabies.  It really has been awhile since I've seen any of them!!!  Today I stole a picture from the church website of Andrew giving the message at church today.  I prayed for him. Someday I will sneak in and listen.  The Lord always uses him in mighty ways.

Well, my seafood platter has arrived so I better go have dinner!  Enjoy your week!!!! xoxo

We're getting sooo tired. Decorating isn't for sissies!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  That song is playing on my computer.  Papa was singing "Uptown Girl" and he doesn't know the words so I thought I would put on Christmas music instead.  He is in his den decorating. I put up the family Christmas stockings and now he is putting lights all around.  It is his room totally so he is having so much fun.  I think he loves decorations more than me.  We have been decoration, sweating, aching, singing and having fun for 3 days now!  The older we get the harder it gets to do things and the longer it takes to do it. By the day after Thanksgiving we should be done.  Then I have to rearrange things. Oh well. Hope you are all having a great day. We are taking tomorrow off for church and football.

At least it isn't raining today! Partially blue sky so Papa and Scruffy went for their walk. Missed it yesterday as it was pouring outside. They don't mind a little drizzle but not when it rains hard.

Well, Papa's knees are hurting so he is stopping. No lights today. He has done plenty. He is sitting in the den watching some catch up shows. My house looks great as is.  Here are a few pictures I took from my seat just now:
Our angel died so we have a new one on the tree. The green blanket on the pillow is the favorite sleeping spot of the cat and dog.  They don't fight over it but fight to see who can get to it first.

Little snowman sceene in the cubby hole and snowmen on the top. The cat sleeps on the dvr because it is warm so I have to be careful with what I put up there. lol  Notice an animal theme?

I got these little wreaths years ago from Andrew and Lauren.  The photo is of my dad wearing his "Bah Humbug!" sweatshirt. He loved that shirt and wore it every Christmas.  I also put the "love is patient" verse with the photo. I gave one to all my brothers and sisters after dad passed. I love this picture. I miss him.

My Snowman collection just keeps growing and growing!  Of course every year papa buys a couple more. I am starting to think it is his collection.

Careful on what goes on the bottom shelves that they are not stuffed. Scruffy may think they are toys.

Just the Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer decorations by Papa's chair. I got the angel from my friend Darlene Stark. She made it for me in 1975.  The black hanging thing was Mimi's (Papa's grandma's). The green Noel elf hanger was my mom's from years ago. The two snowmen hanging above them were made from Tara! Everything means something to me.
Well it is Caturday so here ya go...

Have a great Saturday!!!!
