Life changes quickly....

School starts tomorrow for all the grandkids. I think it is the first time they all started on the same day! Now they go to 8 different schools... 3 different school districts. Sounds like they are all excited! Andrew is in high school now! I can't believe it. This is who I remember:
and this is who i see now....
Life changes so quickly. You never know what will happen after you publish your post each morning. For example.... mom is in the hospital. Didn't really see that coming. I called mom in the morning and Libby answered. Libby was there to take mom to get her blood drawn but said mom forgot about it and was in bed sleeping at 9 a.m. After some coaxing Libby got out of mom that she threw up her pills Sunday and anything else she had put in her mouth. She hadn't had a b.m. in over a week, her vision was messing up (including double at times), she was so weak she barely made it to the door to flip her card to say she was ok (yea, she got chewed out for that since she obviously WASN'T ok).... she also got chewed out for not calling any of us! She said she didn't really want to go to the hospital. I said "Did ya want to get better?" She said "Yes." I asked "Did ya think that was going to happen at home???" She said "no." So frustrating. I wonder if I am going to be like this when I am older? Anyway..... she was in the emergency room for 8 hours!!!! New record. I was about ready to throw a conniption fit when a very nice young man came to move her upstairs. Libby had gone home so I helped get mom settled in her room. It is a nice room... bigger than her last one. I will be going there today with fresh clothes, etc.... unless Libby already picked them up last night. She was going to talk to Sharon... the apt. manager. Mom did use her walker for the first time yesterday going to the car. That is a huge deal for her... and it was her idea! I think she is beginning to accept her limitations. I know you will keep her in your prayers.
The bottom line is she was dehydrated, the digitalis may be poisoning her ( It's a drug that strengthens the contraction of the heart muscle, slows the heart rate and helps eliminate fluid from body tissues... it is derived from the Foxglove plant.. which is poisonous... but the doc believed it could be easier on her kidneys because it makes things rerouted to her liver instead of kidneys making them work less?). Her symptoms look like they may be associated with digitalis toxicity. Waiting for all the test results to come back. Her kidney level looks a bit better so that is the good news. ;D
So.... I filled you all in and and thankful for your prayers!

I woke up at 4..... it is now 5. Maybe I will sleep again. Pretty tired.Lauren was a big help with Makoa yesterday! I only have Makoa tomorrow and then not Thursday or Friday. Rumor has it Kapono's mom is coming for a month long visit... that means a month without my boy!!! Maybe she'll wait til Christmas. It is a rumor at this point. We'll see what happens?

Enjoy your day. Will keep you posted! xoxo

Happy birthday, ma!

Today would have been Ma's birthday. Even though she is with the Lord... I will not put how old! lol! Total respect for her. We miss her every day. We think about her all the time! Lanny asks the Lord to give her a hug from him every morning. She is so missed and loved. We would be calling her today... instead we will pass our messages on through God....
It is easier to accept her being gone looking at the last picture of her.... she was so sick with cancer and was so tired and ready to go...... we love you ma!!!! (sorry about the last picture) She would be mad at me if she knew I posted it. But it's not that bad.... she is still beautiful.I believe God does give us a reason for our life. Waverly's life showed true surrender and unselfishness. She gave up her life and dreams for her baby boy... raising him for over 50 years when they said he would only live until 5. She would have liked to do things... ride off into the sunset on a motorcycle, see the country, etc.... but she was committed and dedicated to raising Michael... even though everyone told her to put him in a home. Her life has taught us the love of family and how we should all sacrifice for one another. What a testimony she left us with.
What will you leave?

No one commented on my new background. Can ya see it? See how I mixed the trees with my photo? Are ya impressed? Lauren and I almost put up a "Fall" background... but once it was up it seemed way too early. Though my feet say otherwise. It is chilly this morning. I have my slippers on!

Not sure what time Makoa comes today. I have to shower and Makoa proof before he gets here. I woke up with a headache and back ache this morning. I have some other issues going on...so i think my iron is low again so I am upping the dose. Oh, doctor heal thyself! lol! Don't worry... I am not doing anything drastic.

Lauren beat me 4 games of "Kings in the Corners" yesterday...and at War. I won Old Maid. Figures. Then Gregory showed up. bye bye Lauren! She played until dark... and Papa made her come in. I think she could have stayed out there all night! She did find time to play with "Face in the Whole" and came up with this:Last night the funniest thing happened. Lauren was coming in and a little black lab puppy runs up on the porch and into the house and stole Toby's stuffed squirrel and ran back out and across the street into the bushes. We have no idea who the dog is. It had no collar. It was very freaky and funny! Lauren said it almost gave me a heart attack! lol!

Papa is having trouble with his knee. Please pray for him. He has to really be hurting to complain. Plus he didn't wash the vehicles or mow the lawn this past weekend. Does that sound like him?

I hope your day is good and full of thanksgiving!

Keep on keeping on....

The year was 2004. I forgot to post it on the memory pictures above.

How was your weekend? Yesterday Amanda picked up Lauren early... she had a play date set up with her bff! She was super excited! So papa and I went and picked up mom's pills, got her a vanilla shake and plain burger, and went to visit. It was a nice visit. She is still tired from the visiting... but it was so good for her!
After we left mom's we drove 4 miles down the road to the reservation and got gas. It was only $2.87. Not far and worth it. Then we just came home. That was our day yesterday. I made chicken and rice for dinner.

I forgot we have the potluck at Swift's today. And Lauren is coming over to spend the night! Tomorrow morning Andrew has orientation to go through and has to work it tomorrow, too, as an ASB officer. His 20 hour sleepover at the school went well... he said it was fun but that is about all I got out of him last night. He was really cranky and tired. Like pulling cheese out of a tomato. Maybe I will hear more about it today... with a smile on his face.

I am sorry I have nothing. I'm tired and don't feel like finding things to talk about either so forgive this boring post. ;o

I brought my treadmill out of hiding yesterday. I don't think it was happy to see me. I have lost 19 pounds and then stopped. I am not satisfied with that amount.... so I need to work it. I checked out a video on Zumba... fun latin dancing. Might try it for a few minutes! lol! I know it wiped me out watching! Loved these comics I found while cleaning out pictures yesterday.....

And finally... I had to throw this is... I thought it was funny. Hope it makes you smile. Prayers for a good week for you all!

Are ya hungry???? Don't look then!

It is Saturday and we all slept in until 9:00! We... meaning me, papa and Lauren. Amanda picked Lauren up an hour later for a playdate! Andrew had a 21 hour sleepover with all the ASB officers at the high school... probably to do some planning for the upcoming year. So Lauren and Sandy came over and spent the night. I taught Lauren the card game "Kings In the Corner". When I was first teaching her.... during the first game she threw her cards on the table and said "See Ya!" when she saw Gregory outside on his bike. I was ditched!
Papa brought dinner home so after we ate we played 3 games and she really kicked my butt every time!!! I couldn't believe her luck. This morning I beat her. ;D We only played one but I won!!! She is growing up.... I can tell because she didn't pout. lol!

Just watched Man vs. Food... Adam finished the 72 ounce steak in Texas. That is pretty good. The show also showed the best Chicken Fried Steak ever! I LOVE Chicken Fried Steak but I'm not so good at making it. I guess that is a good thing or we would be eating it every day! lol!

The Challenge: Eat a 72 oz. steak, with sides (bread roll with butter, potato, ranch beans, shrimp cocktail, and salad) in less than one hour.

Result: Adam completed the challenge in 29 minutes.

Winner: MAN

The Challenge: Eat a 12-pound burger, which includes 5 pounds of hamburger, 2 pounds of bacon and cheese, 5 pounds of fries, and a giant pickle.

Result: Of the over 1,500 people who have attempted to eat this burger, no one has succeeded. Adam included.

Winner: FOOD

Papa and I were wondering how he could eat the steak, baked potato, salad, roll and not eat the burger!

I read about Adam and thought this was interesting:

Series host Adam Richman grew up in Brooklyn, New York, completed his undergraduate degree in International Studies at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and earned a master's degree from the Yale School of Drama. A self-educated food expert, since 1995 he has kept a travel journal including each of the restaurants he visited and what he learned from the trip. Although described as "a bit on the husky side", to maintain his health while indulging for the show, Richman exercises twice a day while he's on the road. When the schedule permits, he does not eat the day before a challenge and he tries to stay "crazy hydrated" by drinking lots of water or club soda and forgoing coffee or soft drinks. After taping for a challenge is complete, Richman spends an hour or so on a treadmill, telling the Las Vegas Review-Journal, "Being sedentary is incredibly uncomfortable. Despite the fact that the first 10 minutes or 15 minutes on the treadmill might suck, it actually does alleviate a lot of pressure, and you feel better.

3. Papa Bob’s Bar-B-Que

All good things come to an end.

I had no idea what my yesterday was going to be like... it was nice. I called mom to see how it was going over there.... she asked me to come over. My Aunt and cousin hadn't left yet... but she would like me to come. That surprised me because the night before I asked her if she needed me to come over in the morning and she rolled her eyes. My mom rolls her eyes more than a 13 year old girl! So I figured that was a no. Well, if she needs me you know I am going to run... no questions asked! I hurried with my shower and got there with my hair dripping. lol! My cousin Larry came about 11:15 and we visited for awhile. He wanted to take us out to lunch. Lindsey wanted seafood. I suggested we say goodbye there... to make it easier on everyone. So we went to lunch! Here are the sisters....
And Larry and Lindsey.... took forever to get the food so we got a lot of visiting in! Lindsey was freezing. They should have cranked that fireplace up for her.We had a nice time.... lots of laughs as usual. Larry and I had fish and chips. The portions were very small for the price. And they were in a basket with paper instead of a plate... which I thought was weird too. I am not a big fan of Tap Rock... or whatever it is called. Mom had Shrimp and chips.... the majority she took home. Lorraine had a sandwich, clam chowder and fries. Lindsey had some kind of seafood stuff with cheese on an English Muffin and Onion Rings. The food was good.
Then we said our goodbye's at the front door. Very abrupt. No tears. Tough ladies. I think Larry was the only one who looked teary. lol!

I took mom home, did her pills, washed her dishes, cleaned out the frig, and took her laundry home. She was watching the closer when I left... and seemed tired. Checked on her last night... she is fine. I am sure she is sad but Lorraine was ready to go home and mom was ready to rest. They had a wonderful visit. I thank the Lord for Lindsey and for the time they had together.

These ladies are "Lohre sisters" Now...if you have "Lohre" blood in you there is a great possibility that you WILL use the wrong words or say the wrong name when speaking. This seemed to be the theme this week. This is from my mom's wall.

I want to brag about my grandsons. They are amazing. Here is from their mail box and here is why they called 911. They are heroes in my eyes!!!! xoxo Love you guys!

I have Makoa today.... and I need to do some cleaning. I wonder if he will help or hinder? lol! I did some cleaning last night in the den. Got lots more to do! Well... I hope you all have a wonderful day! Two rainy days in a row here.... I kind of like it! ;D

Skip Bo losers? Really?

Last night was alot of fun. The last night of the visit. I got to mom's at 5 and they were all ready to take a nap! No way... game on! So we played a game of King's Corners... I won. Then Aunt Lorraine wanted to play SkipBo. So we played. Her and her "sweet" grand daughter, Lindsey, were ruthless. Table talk like you can't believe! lol! (We all did it). They won 4 games in a row. The sun room was getting darker and mom told them we were not quitting until we won. She is not a wimp. And they weren't eating dinner until we won! We won the next game. lol! It was almost 8:00 by then.

We took these pictures before I left.... here is Lindsey with mom! Mom loves her!
Lindsey and I got along so great.... we crack each other up all the time. We clicked right away! I will miss her!
I will really miss my aunt. I love her so much! I am named after her and because of that we have always been close.... plus I understand that weird, blunt, quirky personality of hers!
Lindsey and her grandma!!! Not saying goodbye... just hugging.
Then Aunt Lorraine asked why she always had to be on Lindsey's boob... so Lindsey started teasing her. I love this picture.
We really had fun and lots of laughs.

Yesterday was quiet during the day. Makoa missed the kids. I took a picture because he found Lauren's doll and just kept staring at the face, eyes and hands. I don't know if he thought it was real... but he was amazed by it.
Today will be even quieter. No Makoa. No plans. Woke up at 8. Wow. I may have to clean a bit today. Looks like the weather has cooled down. I hope and pray you all have a wonderful day! Pray for mom and Aunt Lorraine as they say goodbye. It is always hard for them.... but worse as they get older. Love to all!

Another wonderful day in Paradise! It was sunny and just a great day. Maddie and Dylan loved having Makoa here... but soon that wasn't enough for Maddie. She wanted Lauren to play with so I asked Amanda and she ok'd it. Andrew and Lauren came over and it was fun. Dylan and Andrew mostly played with Makoa while the girls were outside with Gregory. So everyone was happy. Especially Makoa!!! I did get him down for a nap and he was waking up outside when Kapono showed up. He was happy to see him but then only wanted me and cried. First time! I am sure he was asleep by the bridge. ;D
Of course, Maddie spent time with her dog!!! They were wrestling over his hedgehog in his mouth. He grabbed it tight so she couldn't take it away. lol
After Makoa left we cleaned up the place and got things packed. Lauren and I made deviled eggs (Maddie came in and asked why she couldn't help... I said "it's eggs"... she said oh and went back out to play with Gregory. Andrew made his favorite potatoes.... Sour Cream and Chive! He did the whole thing himself (I know it is boxed... but he loves them) and packed it up and brought it. He contributed to the potluck. Then we took off to the potluck at mom's! We started it down in the garden... however the bee's were wanting our food. So we moved up to the room next to mom's. It was real nice. And real hot!!!! We opened windows and brought in a fan but it really didn't help much. Tara and Riley brought roasted chicken that was so good and tender... and rolls with butter. Num. And Joel and Karla brought her famous Chinese Chicken Salad everyone loves. Libby and Emerson came... she brought macaroni salad. And with the deviled eggs and Andrew's potatoes... we had some great food! Seemed like everyone enjoyed it! Unfortunately.... I didn't get any pictures! Not til clean up! Of course, sweet Tara and Riley stayed for it! xoxo! Got pictures of the end!
Tara washing the table!
Riley and Lauren taking turns vacuuming!
Tara and her baby girl, Riley!
Lauren with her Auntie Tara!
And Riley with her new "ears pierced" !!!!! How exciting is that!
Meanwhile the guests of honor are back in mom's apartment resting! And reading. lol
It was alot of fun. Mom LOVED seeing everyone... especially Joel. He is one of her favorite people! So he got a huge hug! Mom looked really good. I hope they enjoyed themselves. Lindsey always does. ;D

Lauren and I went to walmart and printed some pictures for my aunt from the reunion at Bob's. We dropped them off with her and I took Lauren home.

Today looks quiet so far.... I will have Makoa. He will miss the kids today. I hope you all have a great day doing what makes you happy! xoxo

Spent the day with wonderful ladies!!!!

My mom looked better and stronger than I had seen her in awhile. My aunt is good medicine!
And my Aunt Lorraine looks wonderful too! We had such a great time yesterday!

Here they are visiting. I video taped too but couldn't pick up much of the conversation... just wanted the lasting memory until I finally started to understand.... they were talking about some dirty little farm boys that always tried to fondle the girl ... so they didn't go out to the farm! I shut it off and said "Don't you guys have something else to talk about?" lol! They laughed when they found out I was taping it. Oh ... those sisters. Not the best recording.

Anyway..... I got to mom's as Libby and Emerson were taking Lindsey out sight-seeing. I bet they had a great time! I did too... I spent about 5 hours with the "sisters". Visited, then mom napped while Lorraine and I played cards. Played Skip Bo.... then we played lots of Kings Corners and I gave her lunch. After mom woke up the 3 of us played Kings Corners.... mom was kicking our butt. Lorraine went to the chair to nap or pout (lol) but I don't think she slept. I kept playing cards with mom. Last game I told her if I win she has to eat lunch! If she won she could decide for herself. I won! I gave her chicken, macaroni salad, cranberries and she ate almost all of it! She hasn't been eating much. Lorraine and I sat and watched her eat. We all laughed at that! At 2:00 mom's show came on "The Closer" so I said my goodbyes. We laughed alot and had fun! I love those ladies!!!! I am named after my aunt and I adore her! She is speaking much better than last year!

Stopped at Karla's and kidnapped two kids! Maddie played with Gregory. Dylan played his PlayStation. But it is just having them here that is nice. We had shrimp for dinner... Maddie ate a whole pizza! Played a little Monopoly... the electronic credit card version. Totally weird to play that way!

Yesterday turned out pretty awesome! I missed Makoa... but I will see him in a few minutes! Maddie and Dylan are sleeping in the den.... he'll be super happy to see them! They are spending the day. Then I will take them to the potluck tonight at mom's. We are having a potluck in the garden at mom's... it will be fun! Mom is excited! My kids will get to see Aunt Lorraine and Grandma and meet their 2nd cousin Lindsey! It is suppose to be beautiful today, too! Can't wait!

Well hope you all have a beautiful day... going to be sunny here!!! xoxo

Bouncing back slow....

I see blue sky! That is a good sign, isn't it? I still feel a bit tired. Of course, I got up at 5. duh!

Quiet day on Sunday ...still in recovery from Saturday! Lanny thinks my stress levels were too high Saturday and that is what wiped me out. I was stressed. I was worried about mom. She was so quiet on the way there and even back. I put on an old Southern gospel CD which had her singing and tapping her fingers. I think I probably stressed her. I worried about the ride and Lanny's driving... with mom being on coumadin (blood thinner) and so frail... of course I would worry. It didn't help the nurse saying a blow to the head and that could be it for her! Can you imagine what an air bag could have done to her? Plus I worried there ... if she was getting too tired.... when she needed to leave... if she was eating.... the list goes on. I need to stop.... but she is my mama. How do you stop? It is like trying not to worry about your kids... no matter how old they are! I was still feeling the effects til last night with neck pain, headache, chest pain... just pain and exhaustion every where. Wish I had help with Makoa today. I will just have to suck it up and smile!UPDATE: I am so sad.... Makoa's mama has today off.... no baby. Who will make me smile and laugh today? I will miss him... haven't seen him since Wednesday. Oh well..... it is what it is. I guess I will go visit the sisters. Maybe they will make me laugh, huh?

Yesterday papa went back to sleep for awhile in the morning and did some things around here. When we were going to mom's the bridge it was closed! A sub went through and on a Sunday afternoon... that makes traffic problems pretty bad. Navy doesn't care about our traffic problems or my schedule! lol. We left an hour later... still a lot of traffic but we got to mom's. Visited for awhile and then I took Lindsey out driving around... met Karla and saw Poulsbo. Took her to Albertson's to buy some dinner for the sisters. She walked home from there.... needed to get some fresh air. ;D

I hope you all have a good day. I am going to mom's after my day with Makoa! Enjoy!Remember this...
You don't drown by falling in deep water.... you drown by staying there.
