The pole, Atlanta and memories

Today is Wednesday....See You At the Pole day.  I used to go to North Kitsap High School every Wednesday and pray for the school, teachers, students and country with my daughter Heather and sometimes the boys went. I called pastors and encouraged them to go. It is a national yearly thing now! I am not saying I started it. haha!  I jumped on the bandwagon though.
What I find really sad is Andrew dropped Lauren off at her school at 7 a.m. and he went up the hill to the high school.  Lauren was the only one who showed up at her school. It was so sad to me.  She was ok with it. She said she prayed by herself.  Next year I will make sure it is different. It was a ministry dear to my heart.

Today I went to Silverdale for my mammogram. Guess what. I sat and filled out the form and waited and they came out to tell me the machine was fouled up still. So I rescheduled and left. Went to get my pedicure and guess what? They were busy in there AGAIN so I gave up and went home. Not a very productive day.

Oh, I guess it was. We took the cat and dog in. Cat got pedicure and the dog got bathed, clipped, brushed and pedi.  He looks good except I think his bangs are too short.

I have friends in Georgia. I love these people. It is a whole huge family...aunts, cousins, sisters, nieces, nephews, etc... I love them all and would LOVE to be a part of their family. They are so close!  Any way I can't help thinking about them because Atlanta Falcons smoked their opponent last Thursday 56-14!  They were awesome!  I know many of them are Bulldog fans, too. I can't help cheer for the Falcons (unless they are playing the Seahawks. lol!  My son Kevon loves the Seahawks, but when he was younger he loved the Jets and Atlanta when he was in high school and middle school.  Still has a fondness for the teams.
He got "best hair" in middle school.

We beat the Denver Bronco's in a real tough rivalry game. It was a nail biter but we won in O.T! Of course the whiners are going to whine, right?

The bad about football is my grandson, Patrick, played his first game and bam...he got hurt. A helmet to the knee. He is still in so much pain and it happened Monday.  He went back to the doctor today and got pain killers and a shot. He may need an MRI. Xray didn't show anything but it might be a torn meniscus.  Meniscus tears refer to a tear in the shock-absorbing cartilage (meniscus) of the knee. It is the most common knee injuries. Keep him in your prayers. Poor Pat, if anything is going to happen it will happen to him. He is accident prone like his Uncle Ryan.
Taken before the game and the injury.

But I just LOVE football! It is my favorite. And smiling. Smiling is my favorite too.

Today wasn't a very smiley day for me. I hate days like this!!!!!  I think I get into my own head too much!

Karla did her walk on Sunday.  She raised over $300 and her goal was $200. I am so proud of her! In memory of Donny (my nephew and Karla's cousin)

Well, have a great week.  Happy Fall!

Andrew during Worship

Yesterday I heard my oldest grandson, Andrew, was singing at Gateway during Youth Group. He is a leader there and Lauren goes to the Youth Group.  She loves it, too, and has made such great friends! I am proud of them both. So, I went to watch him and I was so blessed!!!! I got to meet some people and got to see Andrew worship the Lord. It touched my heart. I didn't cry but could have. I didn't want to embarrass them.  I did manage to get a few video's I want to share.

The last song blew me away. I heard it last week on the internet and fell in love with it. God knew this and knew I was going to be there and blessed me with this exact song. Thank you God!

Hope you enjoy the video's!

I doesn't feel like it but Lanny's mom has been with Jesus for 6 years! My dad died 4 years before her so he greeted her. Then the two of them greeted my mom 3 years later. What a day of rejoicing it was!  Not so much here.  But the pain and suffering she was going through was over. She died of stomach cancer. Painful way to go.  She died at her home in Oklahoma. Bless Becky and Rita and Hospice for being with her as she passed.  Sometimes I still can't believe she is gone. I still wait for her to call and that southern accent say "Hello Joyyyyyce."  Lanny still has trouble looking at pictures of her.  But I don't. Sometimes they are hard to look at but sometimes they make me smile. I am posting some today as a tribute to her. And the link to her Memorial Site is on the left towards the bottom if you want to see more. I hope you can feel the love surrounding her....she gave as good as she got!  These pictures were taken when Lanny, Heather and Tara went to see her in April 2008. She passed away September 17, 2008.

Good news, bad news.....

Again, it has been over a week since my last confession. Or blog.  I am pretty tired tonight but I am going to try to get something down.  Not too much has happened lately.

Sad news is Mona passed away and crossed the Rainbow Bridge last Thursday.  She was Heather and her families Rottweiler. Sweet, beautiful and sweet dog. She will be so missed!!!!

She had a great life with great kids a wonderful family!!! She was blessed and so loved!!!!

Good news:  Kevon and Amanda got to go see Ryan (who's working in San Diego) last weekend. They also got to go see the Seahawks play against the chargers.

Bad news:  Hawks lost. Not good for Kevon and Ryan.  Great for Amanda. She is from San Diego and a huge fan.
Kevon and his vintage Steve Largent jersey he just bought!

Before gameday!
Game over.
Good news: Lauren got to spend the weekend with us.  Every day she went and spent time with her new friends from church.  She loved it!  It is good for her.  Middle school isn't easy for her but she has some pretty special friends. That is good.
this was taken in August at camp

Bad News:  Back in the 90's our family kept a contest going all football season. We started up again over 20 years later.  It is fun but this week our picks were all so horrible.  All of us pretty much sucked.  Papa won the first week and then Brad and Heather both tied the second week. I didn't do well at all.

Good news:  I got my hair cut!  Tired of clipping it up or wearing a pony tail.  Here is before and after:
before haircut
after haircut....when did my ears start drooping????
It feels so much better and so easy to shampoo!!!!  Feels cooler and just great. Wash and wear!

Good news:  My handsome grandson Patrick is playing football again this year! We are hoping to make it over to a game. It is hard for us to do but we shall see!

And I am finishing on good news.  Our house is back to normal with our animals. Kitkat is not afraid in his own house anymore.  He is feeling better.  Still sneezes a little bit but he is playing more and back to his bratty self.  Scruffy is Scruffy.  My baby.  I had to scold him the other day and it took him all day to get over it.  Very sensitive! Dogs really do love to please their owners.  I sure love our pets!
Scruffy never goes anywhere without his green squeaky bone. He takes it outside and puts it in the sun to get warm and then brings it back in.  He also never goes to bed without it.

Kit kat sick.

Getting warm

Both laying with papa

and together!

Have a great night and will be typing again soon!!!! Bless you!

Mom gone 3 years. Really????

Today has been a very sad day for me so far.  I have had worse days but I have had better.  It was only 3 years ago today that my mom died.  I don't want to seem morbid and dwell on it every year but it is a date that sticks out in your mind.  I think of the good and then I start to miss her. We had so many great times together. Just going to the store we would find stuff to laugh at!!!! Of course, every time we went to the store for almost anything, we would have to go out for a meal!!!! lol!

Me, Mom, Denise and Lois at Red Apple Diner

Libby, Mom and me at Red Robin!

On my birthday Lois, Libby and Mom took me to Drifters in Kingston!

At King's Wok

Red Robin (girls day? mom's birthday)

We didn't always eat with a crowd. Many times we went (just the two of us) to so many places.

I can't remember some of the places! lol!

I am not sure where we were but mama looked beautiful!

The Diner in Poulsbo

In Poulsbo...Mucky Duck I think
The last time we went out to eat.... cousin Larry took me, mom and Aunt Lorraine to Tap Rock. It was the last time the sisters were together because mom died within a few weeks. This was taken 8-26-10.
These were good times and make me happy to remember.  I miss having someone to do things with. I miss having someone to laugh with.  I have Papa and he is so fun!  But being with another woman is fun too.  Well, thank you Lord for those good time you gave me with my wonderful mom! Though I miss her every day, I am thankful I was blessed so much!

The other sadness is I took Luna back to the Humane Society today.  It was so hard.  We had her over a week.  Last night papa went into the den to spend sometime with her and she bolted out and chased Kit kat under our bed (which Scruffy and I were in) and started beating up Kit kat!!! I looked down and she had him cornered between my bed, end table and small garbage can. I moved the garbage can and Kitkat tore out of the bedroom through the kitchen and up on the washer. Luna started chasing him but papa stopped her and told her to get back in the den. Which she did and he locked her in. I locked Scruffy in the bedroom. I went and pet Kitkat and made sure he was ok. That is when papa said Luna goes back today. It is not fair to put Kit kat through this.... he is scared to death! So when papa left to get more carpet cleaner liquid and lysol I packed up Luna and took her back the the Humane Society. It was so stinking hard. I did it without papa because he fell in love with her.  He loves animals so, so much and spent so much time in the den with her.  I feel so bad for insisting we get her. I should have known he would get attached.  It was better I took her before he could say bye and without him.  It was all my fault this all happened so I needed to take care of it. I cried when the song "Temporary Home" by Carrie Underwood came on while driving there. I can tell you this.... we will never get another animal as long as we have these two animals. They are enough.  They were so good at the KHS! They remembered her and there was no charge to bring her back and I filled out a thing about her personality (how she loved cuddling, laps, string, eating, but hated animals) and they said they would have NO problem finding her a home.  That made me feel better and they gave me her case number so I can check anytime to see if she got a home.  Bye bye Luna. Lesson learned. Now I have to tell Lauren and Maddie. :(

On to good news!  Today my great nephew is 1 years old. I haven't met him yet. He lives across the ferry and a ways away. We don't cross the ferry often at all. I hope to meet him soon. He is the first one to make my sister Libby a grandma!!!!

Our Seahawks beat Green Bay Packers last Thursday.  Good game!  I was happy for my Georgia friends yesterday. Watched the Atlanta Falcons beat New Orleans Saints!  That was a good game and quite a nail biter.

Took Lauren down to Kingston to meet up with her friend for awhile.  They sat in McDonalds and had a McFlurry. They didn't want me hanging around so I went out in the van and cleaned up the inside of my van. I sorted through my CD's and sorted and cleaned everything up. I kept myself busy and got things done. Then I took her home. Had a long talk with her on the way. You can tell she is in middle school. That's all I will say about it. Say a little prayer for her please.

Yesterday was grandparents day. Hasn't quite caught on. No one in our family remembered.  I posted a meme for all the grandparents who are my friends. And especially Andrew and Lauren's other grandma down in California.  And Riley and Jo's other grandma in Poulsbo. They are facebook friends too.  Hope they had a good day!  One year is memorable... when the girls went to all this trouble and made this.  It has Andrew, Patrick, Parker, Dylan and Jordy's pics and handprints and a "Happy Grandparents Day!" on it.  I love it!!!!

I need to go fold towels.  Papa finished cleaning the den. Washed the furniture and carpet and everything else in there.  He's a good guy. Plus he just fixed the door in the den!

Have a great week!
