12/29/2009 4:15:00 PM SR 104 head-on accident near Hood Canal Bridge sends three to hospital

Two vehicles collided head-on at the intersection of Paradise Bay Road and State Route 104 about 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28 causing significant backups on Hwy 3 and Hwy 104 on both sides of the Hood Canal Bridge. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and a single occupant/driver of one of the vehicles was transported with serious injuries to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, according to Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue. Two other passengers in the second vehicle were transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton with minor injuries. Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue responded along with assistance from East Jefferson Fire Rescue, and Naval Region Northwest, Fire Station 91, Indian Island.
