My Random Dozen for the week.....

1. Which physical trait do you now accept--maybe not love, but accept--and no longer feel extremely self-conscious about?

I guess it's my height. Growing up tall was tough... but when your 50 and you start shrinking ya just don't care anymore.... plus there are more advantages to being tall than there are being short.

2. This week Meredith Baxter Birney, best known as the mom on the favorite 80s sitcom "Family Ties" came out of the closet, which led me to formulate this question: Who do you think is/was the best TV mom?

Caroline Ingalls. She was the right mix between firmness, and letting things slide, with the ability to laugh off things that didn't really matter. (I agree with Dena on this one!)

3. Do you speak any foreign languages? Are there any you'd like to learn?

I took 2 1/2 years of French... not that I remember much. I am fluent piglatin. Can't think of any I want to learn... will have to learn Spanish before I die the way the country is going.

4. Who is your personal hero?

My parents. My dad was brave, strong, gentle, patient, forgiving, always cheerful and not mean. I rarely ever heard him speak badly about anyone. My mom is my best friend and confident (besides Lanny). I can talk to her and she will listen and give her thoughts... but she loves me the whole time and I always know she is there for me.

5. What is one holiday food that you find extremely difficult to resist over- indulging in?

I always had trouble resisting Grandma's fudge. And I don't really have a sweet tooth. I don't think there is anything in particular except turkey, potatoes and gravy.... starches.

6. Tell me about a Christmas decoration that has special meaning or sentimental value.

I would have to say home made ones from the grand kids and kids... I love them and smile when we bring them out.

7. How do you feel about snow?

It depends on if it is convenient at the time or not! lol! I love it... and I hate it if my loved ones are out driving in it.

8. On average, how many hours of sleep do you get each night? Not that I'm jealous of any number over three or anything.

I was doing great with 7-9 until I got this cold. Now I am lucky to see 4.

9. Tell me about your first crush.

Famous person - Paul McCartney - I am still so in love with him.... hopelessly devoted.... and he still looks good.

Non-famous person - David Gerde. His mom was friends with my mom so we saw them frequently. He was my first kiss! After that kiss my crush was over. yuk.

10. You're stuck in a room for 2 hours with only a chalkboard and chalk. What will you write/draw?

Maybe a story for my grandkids.... I've always wanted to do that anyway. I make up stories for them all the time.

11. Do you dress for the current temp or for the day's forecast?

Days forcast... which is sometimes wrong so you sweat or freeze anyway... lol.

12. Favorite Christmas movie is?

I love Elf..... it is so corny and funny and touching and has a great message about love.
