The dog days (a period of 40 days starting July 3 and ending August 11) are named for the Dog Star, Sirius, which is visible with the rising Sun at this time. Ancients associated this sky picture with the hot days that coincided with it.
Dog days bright and clear,
indicate a happy year.
But when accompanied by rain,
for better times our hopes are in vain.
Here are the pictures of our dogs over the past 25 years! We loved our dogs!!!
Me and Rocky! He was my buddy!
Bogie.... or Boginski as Lanny called him.
Bear.... Kevon's dog got sick young.
The most dogs we had at one time. What were we thinking? Nicky (Nicodemus... the white cocker/golden retriever mix) was Karla's dog, Buddy (terrier mix) was Heather's, and Punky (the small one) was Tara's dog. Tara took Punky when she got married but the other two ended up being Lanny's dogs.
And here is Toby with his girlfriend Sandy (Lauren and Andrew's dog).

Well.... yesterday was another wasted day. Sometimes it feels that way. But I have to believe He has a plan for me. I read a great devotional this morning that said : We must trust God, knowing that He will guide us in the right direction and never steer us down a wrong path. Remembering His past faithfulness can grow our trust.
Papa is home this morning!!! Yeah! The government gave him the day off because the 4th falls on a Saturday! Switched back the sides of the bed last night! I slept great.
Got some bad news yesterday. Lanny's sister, Rita, has been struggling since his mom died. She isn't coping with things well and the doctors can't seem to get her medication right. She is in the hospital again. Please pray for her!!!
I am missing some kiddo's. Feeling a bit blue and lonely. Feels like the bridge is closed again!!! But tomorrow is Maddie's birthday party at Karla's.... so I will get to see 4 of them. I am happy about that. Our grand kids are very special to us... in case you couldn't figure that out. So at least we have plans for the fourth. I won't go to the Kingston Parade this year.... no kids to take. Not fun sitting there in a lawn chair by yourself waving a little flag! lol! I know papa won't go.
Today we're just straitening up things. As usual. Counting my blessings and putting on some Praise music as I work. That always helps the blues! I'll be good as new by no time. I can't afford to get my hair cut... but I have a box of hair color left I can use today. I wait as long as possible now.... but the gray is about an inch into my head. lol!
How do you like my new layout???? I'm trying 3 columns. Let me know what you think. It seems longer to download.... but maybe that is from all the pictures from KJ's birthday... don't know. We'll see how it works out.
Hope you all have a wonderful Friday. From Facebook comments it looks like everyone is looking forward to this weekend! Be safe and have fun!
