This devotion made me think of Mom McCann....who surely put her son, Michael, ahead of herself for over 50 years...and the Lord will reward her when she goes to be home with Him.
Jesus set quite an example for us of love that gives and gives, holding nothing back. He made those around Him the focus of His life. Now, we're told to live the same way. What does that mean? It means giving of your time and energy....even when you don't feel like it. The love Jesus modeled for us denies self by putting others first. It means thinking what the other might prefer or enjoy before you automatically do things your way. Lay down your life for your spouse, family, or friends and show real love to those around you.
