Have you Forgotten?

My post for Saturday is in memory of all those who lost their lives because of the horrible attack on our country 9-11-01. For many 9-11 is like the Kennedy assassination. Everyone remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing when it happened. I remember I was just puttering around straitening up the house when Amanda called and asked if I had heard.... and then told me what was happening. I turned on the tv and cried! It did not seem real. I remember when the air traffic stopped. Outdoors seemed eerily quiet. Nothing was right about that day. My husband was on high alert and the base shut down. No one was going in or out. It was such an emotional day I could not pull myself away from the television set. And I cried.
We never realized at the time how the world would change, how our lives would change, and how our livelihood would change. The impact was enormous. Soon our men and women were headed to Iraq to fight the war against terrorism by toppling one of the terrorist major backers.
We still have not gotten the main, evil person we have hunted for... Bin Ladin. I find that unbelievable with our capabilities we cannot get him... but even if we don't.... God will deal with him and I believe it will be harsh to say the least.

Here are some stats from the attack.... it is so sad. This is why we went to war.... we cannot forget this.... and because we went over there our country was safe from fighting in our homeland.

Enough said.

Today went good. I went to visit mom and Karla brought lunch and Libby showed up and the 4 of us all had lunch together... nummy Chung's. We shared food and laughs and enjoyed the time... mom really did.
I talked to the Social Worker and P. Therapist because mom wants to go home. The Social Worker came and talked to mom.... told her they had to stop the coumadin (blood thinner) because her levels were too high. They will start them up on Monday again but want to watch her over the weekend. Plus her doctor isn't there to release her. Plus the P.T. said although mom is walking pretty good and could probably be released.... she is concerned about her motivation. See... sometimes mom manipulates (harsh word from a therapist!) them and blows therapy off. She's good.... she's my mama. But she can't do that so we talked to her about it. If she wants to get out she has to cooperate with them! Plus I asked her how she will stay motivated to keep walking at home.... her answer was "remembering this place." She always has an answer. lol! She did a huge walk all over the nursing home today and got to see some people she worked with there... so that cheered her up and she sounds very proud of herself.
Tomorrow will be a big day for her. Rick, Don and Lois will all be there for a visit.... and lunch so she is going to love that!!! (more of mom's kids and lois' husband!) I told her to get some rest tonight. ;D
Monday is the big meeting to decide if they should release her or not. She is praying!!!!!
Well.... glad it is Friday.... need to make my honey some beef stroganoff for dinner.
Enjoy your weekend!
Tomorrow we stop to remember 911.
Sunday is Grandparents Day!

Finally... the words to

"HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN?"

I hear people saying we don't need this war
But, I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well, after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And we vowed to get the one’s behind bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Yeah, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

Oh Joyce....
What a post! What a good thing to RE-visit that day...Kurt and I were remembering this morning that it was 9-11 and thinking back. We know it impacted many many many younger generation citizens to go out there and do something, to take a stand, to defend what is OURS. Our freedoms, Our rights to have peace and not fear terrorists coming in and disrupting our country, Our country's patriotism and beliefs that all men are created equal and have the right to live unoppressed....and more.
And so they did...in droves.
And defend our rights they still do today. God bless them. All of us who have military members in our families...we know don't we?
We feel the cost, the sacrifice, the pride, the fear, the honor and privilege of what it means to take a stand for what is just and right.
Love and hugs to you for doing your memory and "in honor" post.
Thank you. xoxo Have a great weekend, Joyce. Praying for your mama to get to go back home!!!!!!
Keep us posted. **ps. Got Justin's flight window time back to the US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks so MUCH for praying. Cherish that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought about that day a lot on Saturday! I remembered where I was when I heard that news and I had the funeral of the local Marine buried on 9/11:( I just watched a newcast on the funeral and it had me in tears. We can't forget the ones who lost their lives in the towers and fighting the war because of the towers.

Tell your Mama to cooperate:) It is kinda like being in jail and you have to do what they SUGGEST to get out!

Love you all and have a blessed Sunday! Happy to hear the visitors are flowing in:) HUGS!
