DON'T BLINK!

DON'T BLINK!

When I woke up this morning I took a shower, pet my animals, have my coffee at my computer and play "It's Your Turn" and catch up on the blogs of my friends and family.  Today I read my sweet friend, Kelly Kelly's blog and she mentioned the Kenny Chesney song Don't Blink.  So I looked it up. The words really touched my heart so I am sharing them with you...

I turned on the evening news
Saw a old man being interviewed
Turning a hundred and two today
Asked him what's the secret to life
He looked up from his old pipe
Laughed and said "All I can say is."

Don't blink

Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you
Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
Don't blink
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your "better half"
Of fifty years is there in bed
And you're praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think
So don't blink

I was glued to my
TV when it looked like he looked at me and said
"Best start putting first things first."
Cause when your hourglass runs out of sand
You can't flip it over and start again
Take every breathe God gives you for what it's worth

That is so true. You go from being a mom of kids that rely on you for almost everything to being a mom who's kids are so independent you rarely feel needed.  But that is when you know you did your job.  Isn't that what God entrusts us with.... His children.... to raise them to be responsible, caring adults... who in turn, raise more responsible and caring adults .... who all love the Lord. I believe I did my best. I gave them love, taught them Jesus, hugged them as long as I could, was there if they needed me, cried for them, prayed for them ... and, sadly, I made mistakes. My kids will, too, while raising their kids. But when you love and care for them as much as I did mine... and you have the honor of seeing what responsible loving parents they are..... it totally blesses my heart! I am so proud of them.  I must have done something right... only with God's help! Just remember not to blink!

haha! I love the pic of your mom AND the last pic too!!! Oh Joyce..I am trying hard NOT to blink, and to just keep remembering to breathe... Being away from my hubs for going on 7 months...I think the worst part is realizing that time is passing, a blink is happening, and I am missing this time with him...makes me cry sometimes..but I KNOW God is the author of my life and HE has written this story and I have to totally be resigned to Him over and over that all of this is part of His purpose and will turn out for better than if it hadn't happened... I loved your post. And we ALL make mistakes parenting, but knowing you did what you thought was best at the time is your reassurance. God covers up the mistakes and fills in the gaps where we couldn't stretch far enough to cover everything...He does...Hugs to you. I will keep my eyes like your mama's !!!! :-)

You did SOOOO much right, BUT the kids should also come around and be very thankful for the raising you gave them:) It ain't easy raising kids, I know because I had ONE! OK, just one but my time raising her was extremely trying! Not because of her but because I just had a rough time, working long hours and being BROKE ALWAYS:)

Love the choice of pictures! Only you could find those perfect "don't blink" pictures!

Love you bunches, your Georgia Sister!
