Mostly mama....

I started to post yesterday and then we had to leave so I never published it.  So here I go at 3 a.m. because the cough is keeping me up like every single night. I am so tired of it. I have been on this antibiotic for 6 days hoping it will work. So far it doesn't feel like it.

I have nothing to complain about when I look at mom, though. She needs SO much pushing to get her to do anything! I spent time with her yesterday.  When Lanny, Lauren and I got there she was asleep.  She had eaten 1 bite of banana, a few bites of cereal, and spilled her hot chocolate all over herself, the bed, the tray, her glasses and cell phone. It is not so great to find her like that... so I washed her glasses and cell, moved her tray and washed her table. Mom woke up and the Physical Therapist walked in to work with mom.  Mom wasn't happy.... but she got mom dressed and I brushed her hair. She told me to just go home... which stung a bit but didn't deter me.  Mom walked half way down the hall with a walker...then had to sit in the wheel chair. She got quite a talking to from the PT about what will happen if she doesn't try and becomes bedridden.  It will not be pretty.  Mom walked the rest of the hall, sat down on a wicker sofa, and did some leg exercises.  After that she walked all the way back to her room...almost. She got to the door and a nurse wanted her to go a little farther and get weighed. Mom sat in the wheel chair for the rest of it.  We were proud of her that she walked that far!!!! The nurse said mom was like a cow going to her barn for the night...only to find out she had to go further. lol! Great analogy! We left mom to rest.

Took Lauren to Blu Berry. It is a new popular yogurt place that everyone loves. It was good.  We all had some and we ate it all. It was such a great day to sit outside.
Lauren with her frozen yogurt!
Then we went to Arby's for a sandwich... lol! Reverse order. Amanda and Andrew came and picked up Lauren there to take her for her haircut.  We finished lunch and I dropped off papa at Sears then went to DQ to get mama a Hawaiian Blizzard....her favorite.
We took it back to her and she loved it. Well, she ate about an inch of it....took her pills with it. She is giving the nurse trouble when it comes time to take her pills. Those were her morning pills she was taking and it was 3:00!  Libby will get on her today about it too. She says her tummy gets upset...but her pills are important too! After I fed her the ice cream Karla and Joel arrived to visit her! She was happy to see them!  I went and talked to the nurse to give them time to talk.  I told the nurse maybe she would eat more if it was finger food, a soft boiled egg, ice cream, stuff she likes and what might not overwhelm her. She sees a big tray of food coming and gets sick to her stomach!  When I finally got ready to leave I made sure they cleaned her up and put her back into a nightgown and tucked her in and said goodnight.  She is so tired....all the time tired. She wants every one to leave her alone.

Well, it is 4 in the morning now and I think I am done coughing so I will see if I can try to get some more sleep. Maddie is spending the night tonight!  I don't want to fall asleep at 5 p.m.

Got our Nutrisystem food... went through and sorted it last night.  We start on Monday. Wish me luck! As I was unpacking this boxed food.... I was trying to picture Marie Osmond doing the same thing....just couldn't see it happening.

We are giving it a try for a month. It really can't hurt us, right?  Well... I need to sleep. Just wanted to update you on mama.  Thank you for your prayers! Our family thanks you! Love to all!

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Ok....this is not going to be a "happy" blog.  Well, except one bit of happiness in my day.
THE GOOD: After work I went with Veronica and we had dinner at Jack in the Box!  It was so nice just to sit there and relax and catch up with her!  I tell ya, I love that girl!  I shared with her the challenges in work and with my mom...I can pour out my heart to her knowing nothing will leave the table. And she shares with me her dreams and hesitations and dilemma's in life.  I don't know how we bonded like that at a job, but we did.  I think there is always that one person you work with that stays your friend.... and Veronica is my person. Yesterday I found out who I can trust and not.

THE BAD: Besides dinner..... yesterday sucked.  I went and got mom's cell phone.  Went and took it to her. She still did not have bars on her bed. The aide was kind of short with me. So I called Dr. Connie and asked her to order them for mom. They better be up when I get there today. The bed is small, I am afraid she is going to fall out....plus she can use the bars to turn over.  The PT called and said she wanted a meeting with the family.  I won't have time....but Libby called her back and her and Lois are going to see her on Wednesday.  My job is so in the way right now it is frustrating. I wanna help with mom.  Mom was tired. When she rang the bell to be taken to the bathroom the aide comes in mumbling "I thought someone had already been in to see if she had to go.". That started her and I off on the wrong foot with me.
Mom was tired....in every way possible. I did make her smile! That was the other highlight of my day!  But I spent most of the time telling her how much I loved her and needed her and to not give up!
Libby went to see her in the afternoon.  She had been taken to get a catscan and to see Dr. Vasin. That made me angry that they never notified us. We always go to the doc with her! Libby ran over there and got to talk with the doctor anyway..... not good news. He said mom is very, very, very sick. She is dehydrated so he is putting her on IV. Things are shutting down and there is nothing we can do to stop them.  Libby said we need to make her comfortable and pain free. She doesn't think mom will be around long.  That hurts so much...but in my heart I know she is right.   Mom loves us but she is so tired.  That's the only way to explain mom right now.  Not only did her sis and son leave....which depresses her anyway....but she is sick again. There is so much going on with her I cannot even explain on this blog.  Just pray for us all. I am going in again this morning to talk with her.

THE UGLY: School sucked.  Fifteen kids....I felt sick...kept coughing.  Some were not listening and when I had to raise my voice to get their attention... I would cough. Too much talking....I would cough.  Couldn't read a book....I would cough.  Bad stuff. Up most of the night...even vomiting with this cough. Sucks. My word of the day.

I talked with Chad a bit when he picked up his son. He is so encouraging!!!!!

Well...need to get ready to go..... so tell me if anyone recognizes this person on the right in this picture. I have my thoughts but I am waiting to see if you agree.... have a good day!

Too tired to think!

I am SO sleepy! I didn't sleep last night with this cough.  Nyquil didn't even help.  When I get on a roll it is hard to stop. Need to go see mom before work so that is what I will do this morning.

Mom was doing better by the afternoon...Libby said. It is really hard to talk to mom on the phone. I am going to take her cell phone in and see if it works better. It is like talking to the deaf....she hears nothing you say and just talks.  But I am glad she is eating a little. Her long time friend, Duane Sabin, is going to see her today. That will make her happy! She loves him!

Well, the retreat itself went well.  I didn't cough until the second half.  Dan Diamond was the guest speaker. He is good....the same local doc that went to Haiti and New Orleans when disaster struck. He was trying to encourage us to team up and get through this economy.

Then we get back to the ranch.... Joanna comes and gets me and takes me to her office with Marcey. First, I am reprimanded for my absences...7.  Doesn't matter if they sent me home or the reason for the absence...an absence is an absence.  Normally 3 get you written up and 7 sent packing she said.  Ok.  I guess she is doing me a favor by letting me stay.  Next she said that they don't have the money to keep me and hire a preschool teacher. So basically, if I want to stay, I will be the preschool teacher....for a while.  I will try it for awhile.  Lanny is not happy they want me to be a teacher AND site coordinator but get paid for one job yet expected to do two. We'll see how that works out, right?

Kids are leaving the center and will start kindergarten in public school.  Said goodbye to Russell and Karly yesterday.  That was sad.  The kids don't get it.  Not until the day they don't come back will they understand.  Parents and I get it.  Plus Ms. Juanita left yesterday.  That was sad. She got off at 3 but hung around doing stuff and made sure I understood the reading program and ordering books before she left. Basically she walked me out when I closed and we stood by the road talking for about 15 more minutes. lol! I will miss her and her huge spiritual presence!

I guess I need to get ready to go see mom and then go to work!  Have a wonderful day all!!!! xoxo
