Last week of July!

Kind of a busy week. A very fast week!!!   Now I have to see if I can remember it. We moved into August this week....which came fast! For me to remember my week I look at pictures I hopefully took or I look at the calendar. So let's see what I come up with.

We've had Lauren all week! It has been awesome!  My house is always happier when there is a kid here!  Or 2 or 3 or 10!!!!  lol!  Andrew went to Corem Deo which is Christian camp he goes to every year. He absolutely loves it.
And Lauren had Soccer camp in Poulsbo all week.

Monday  she didn't like it. She is one of the oldest kids there. As you can see in the picture Lauren is on the left in the grey shirt and black shorts.  Any other tall people you see in this photo are the teenage coaches! The little ones are players like Lauren.

On Monday night her parents took her to her first soccer practice with her new team that starts in September. After her parents dropped her off she had dinner, showered and fell asleep really fast.  She was so tired.

Tuesday: I was sitting at the field again after dragging Lauren there and Maddie called. She wanted to come spend the night! I was happy! So Karla brought her down to me (only about a mile away, I think). Towards the end of practice the coach moved her with the boys...they are more of a challenge and she needed to be challenged.

Amanda showed up at the end of practice to see what was going on. She talked and cuddled Lauren for awhile. The bonus was she brought us pizza!!! And lemonade! We took it home and cooked it.  But first we got stopped at the bridge. It was open for marine traffic which means closed to car traffic.

So we sat. And waited. And waited. lol! That afternoon the kids played and played. I think they were happy to be together.
That night we did something we haven't done in AGES!!!! We had friends over for dinner! Lanny BBQ'd some burgers and hot dogs. We had Lester and Cheryl over! We have been friends with them about 25 years!  Went through raising teens and moves and so man things together! They've been such good friends and I missed them.  Lanny and I have been terrible about keeping up with friends. We've kept to ourselves so much in the past couple years it has been bad.  Trying to fix it. We need to.  We talked politics, about the Lord, about our families, our parents, so much. It was so great. They were here for 5 hours! Ryan and Amanda stopped by so it was nice they got to see each other, too. Put the girls down at 9:00.

Got them up Wednesday morning and Lauren was excited to go because she was on Italy's team (boys). So it was much easier getting to the field. Maddie asked her mom if she could spend the night again and she said yes! But the bad news is something happened to Lauren.  She hurt her foot somehow during practice.  It wasn't quite an ankle, it was in front of it and it swelled up and was pretty bruised. It got worse as her practice went on. At first we thought it was her soccer shin guard rubbing on her but now I think it was more.

We iced it and gave her ibuprofen and made her elevate it. I know it was boring for Maddie but she did good.  She knew Lauren was hurting. So we watched tv and they played on the computer. Ryan and Amanda came and looked at it. They decided she shouldn't go to camp Thursday. She didn't sleep well that night.

So on Thursday morning I thought they would sleep in but they didn't. Karla came and got Maddie pretty early.  We just did nothing all day. I did some cleaning but that is about it. We went to bed early again. She was still in pain and moaned during the night. I felt bad for her.

Friday Amanda decided to take her to get it checked. We went and got her crutches from her house and then took Maddie's board game to her, then to the bank and then to the soccer field to explain to the people there why Lauren isn't going to be in the tournaments. Then we stopped at Red Apple and picked up some chicken and jojo's and then to Walmart where papa went in and bought milk. Then we came home and waited until Lauren's parents came and took her to the doctor. She is coming back in a bit. I asked Ryan what happened and he said she strained it, got an ankle brace and needs to rest it for a week or two.  Which is pretty much what Ryan thought it was. But it doesn't hurt to get it checked out.

Today is the first day we have had rain in almost 40 days. It is nice and refreshing. Tomorrow I will be posting about my handsome grandson Joshua! Another birthday! :D

Have a great weekend!!!!
