DIS, DAT, AND DE EDDER!!!!

My fans are wanting me to post.  I haven't for awhile.  So I need to look back almost a month to what I've been doing.

So, let's go back.  Well, we saw birthday's come and go. Kevon's was the 13th of January.  He turned 41.

My nephew, Donny, had another birthday in heaven.  I think of him often and miss his always.  He was quiet, kind, handsome and so smart.  He died too young.

This month we have two.... our sons-in-law!  Brad had his on Tuesday the 5th and Joel is having his today!  They are both awesome dads, husbands to our girls, and like sons to us!

It has actually been a pretty quiet past month.

- We are still eating low to no carb. I am still trying to figure out how to balance my blood sugar readings with my diet.  I'll get there sooner or later.

- Papa had to go get a CT scan on his lungs.  Here is some of what the doctor said :  "Reviewed your follow up chest CT. Left upper lobe nodule is essentially stable (small 1 mm difference is within CT scan measure variation). You right posterior (back) nodule is also unchanged. The prior lymph node noted is slightly smaller. "
So I guess that is good. Glad he got it done.

- I started watching Celebrity Big Brother.  I had said I wasn't going to watch it because I wasn't interested in the people on it but I did anyway.
I am actually enjoying it.

- We spent one day cleaning out the freezers.  It is amazing some of the stuff we should have thrown out awhile ago. If we are not going to eat the leftovers by now, I don't think we will. haha! We have more room now.

- One day we drove up to Sequim to go to Costco. Filled the freezer back up. lol!  It was such a nice drive.  We thought it would be less crowded there than Silverdale but we were wrong.  It was still crowded.  Maybe going on a Saturday was our mistake.  We spent less than $200 and stocked up on what we needed.

- I went to the medical center and had my blood drawn to get my A1C checked (blood sugar for my diabetes).  I got the results back and it was lower!  Normal readings are 4.5-5.6%.  Mine was 7.4% which is 2 whole point down from last year. It is a 3 month average.  Next time they check it I think they will be really happy with it!

- One of my oldest friends (Sherri Dumdei Forbes) and I went and had lunch together last week. It was so awesome to visit with her those couple hours!  We laughed a lot. Talked about memories and our families. We both moved to Kingston in 1969 and have been friends ever since.  We kind of lost touch over a few years but getting together with her is like we never did.

-My beautiful niece, Alyssa, got her hair cut after so many years with long hair!  She looks older and just beautiful!!!!

- Did get some big news in our family!  Heather and Don's son, Patrick (our grandson), asked his girlfriend Madi to marry him!  We met her on Christmas and she seems very nice.  He called to tell us the other night and sounded so happy!!!!  They won't be getting married any time soon because he has school to finish.

- Amanda and I went to Jessica's baby shower.  She is expecting a baby boy next month!!!  She got so many onesies, and footies and diapers! And lots of cute outfits for him!  And in the middle of the shower Kevon is on the phone with Amanda having her order the Car Seat / Stroller Jessie had her eye on.  She was very happy and it arrived yesterday.  Kevon loves those girls and he is such a wonderful man. So generous. I didn't get any pictures at the shower.  That is not like me.  lol

-  Lauren is the last of the girls to finish drivers ed.  She does so well I actually let her drive my van about a mile to her house.  I was pretty impressed with how careful she does.

This is the kind of car she is going to buy from her aunty Meghan.  She has been saving her money and is so excited.  She loves these "toasters".

Madi has this car:

And Riley is already driving this one:

Lord,  put your angels around the girls and their vehicles.  Keep them safe.  Amen.

And then they grew up.
Papa fell on the ice the yesterday.  He was out walking Scruffy and fell flat on his back. He said his legs went out from under him. He is mostly sore on his right side but he didn't hit his head.  Scruffy barked to draw attention from the neighbor Bill.  He went out to find out if Lanny was ok. When they came in the house Scruffy usually runs to the door and jumps on it.  This time he waited for papa on the porch.  He knew something happened that shouldn't have happened.  They love each other very much! This morning our neighbor, Rich, came over and sanded or deiced our driveway and porch.  He is the nicest guy!  He said he is going to buy some baking soda for our roof remove our moss.  Speaking of nice... Brad came over again last Saturday and change Papa's oil again. He just doesn't know how much papa appreciates it!!!!

Pretty outside, warm inside!

This cartoon reminds me of two things.  Our hummingbirds were not happy when the feeder froze. We had to bring it in and thaw it. They weren't happy then either.  We are trying to keep it thawed.

The other thing it reminds me of is the commercial where that man is running to the roof to get away from his attackers and a helicopter is above him and .... his mom calls.  He's a bit busy and she say's "  Squirrel is in the attack again."  I think it is posted on this blog somewhere. lol!

I don't always call Kevon at the most convenient times because he is always busy and working hard.  Hopefully not like this guy! lol!

We had about 4 inches of snow. Snowed all day Sunday and Lauren and I watched movies and the snow.  Her mom came and got her before the roads got too bad.  It continued to snow through part of Monday. Schools were closed everywhere.  Even the University of Washington closed. The ice is bad on the campus. So bad a 19 year old girl fell  on it and hit her head and died.  I told Dylan to be super careful going to the gym and classes and his dorm.  I love snow but I hate what the ice can do. In our area we have big hills and lots of trees that keep the roads bad.  Now wer are suppose to get more snow tomorrow and Saturday.

I had to cancel our class reunion meeting for Saturday and our family Asian dinner.  I don't want anyone to think of driving out and about on Saturday.

Today Papa and I are making this for lunch.  Not exactly carb healthy but winter snow healthy. lol!

Have a great day, weekend, month etc.... Hope to write again soon!

van, girls and kevon's bday

It is a beautiful Saturday!  The sky is blue and the sun is out.  But roofs were frozen and it was cold this morning!  I think I need to get out of the house today.  It is such a gorgeous day and I love my new van so much it would be nice to go for a ride or drive.  I love how my phone plays my songs through the van.  I have named my van.  It's name is Vanna White. Get it?  So, I think we'll take Vanna out today.

I would take Scruffy too but he doesn't ride too well.  He doesn't know how to settle down.  We learned that when we took Dylan, Madi and Lauren to the ocean and then up to Forks for Spring Break. It was a long haul and a pain in the keister with that dog.

I've been doing really well on my eating. I rarely have milk or bread. I haven't had any potatoes, pasta or rice.  Trying to cut way down on my carb intake.  And it has been a week today and I have lost 5 pounds! I am happy.  What is better yet is my blood sugar going down.  My problem now is trying to balance my blood sugar.  It is so hard keeping it even. I've been as low as my 50's which is not good. It is suppose to be between 70-140.  So I have to keep it there.  It's so worth it though.  Karla, Kevon, Amanda, Lauren and Papa have all cut carbs too.  Praying for our health!

Lauren's been home from Arizona for a week now.  I am so happy to have her home and she is happy to be home.  She loves her bedroom, dog, and mom.  And her band, friends, etc.... I didn't see her until Tuesday.  She loves us too. And driving.

On Tuesday Papa had been gone all day.  Lauren had an orthodontist appointment in the morning. Then he had an appointment with his cardiologist, Dr. Johnson.  He loves this guy and visa versa.  Papa stopped at the store on the way home and by the time he got home he was tired.  So I went and got Lauren from school.  We decided to go to the store for frozen berries.  Lauren called Madi to come with us. KJ dropped her off with us in Safeway.  I got some cheese and chicken meat to bag up for snacks.  The girls were hungry and decided on going to Silverdale Panera.  Lauren had a salad with Broccoli and Cheddar soup while Madi had the soup and grilled cheese sandwich. I had nothing.  Oh, wait, Lauren got me some water.  haha. It was just nice spending time with the two.

I tried talking with Kevon on the phone today.  We were hoping to have a dinner for him tomorrow for his 41st birthday but he doesn't want to. It's every year thing he turns me down. We were talking on the phone a little bit ago and he got a call and still hasn't called back.  I just have to remember not to take it personally. He is a busy guy. I am so stinkin' proud of the man he is.  He is a hard worker who partnered with his best friend to start their own business with over 20 employees. He is doing great career wise, financially, and he is incredibly funny and handsome.  And he loves his family and is so good to his friends.  I will call him tomorrow to wish him a very happy birthday!

I'm still trying to make sense of my new iPhone I got for Christmas.  It is hard and I don't know how to do some stuff yet. My computer is getting confusing too.  Maybe it is just my brain lately.  I used to be so good at figuring things out.

I don't know if I am making sense since I am watching tv as I do this. I don't think I have much more to write.  Life has been peaceful and quiet, Thank God!!!!
