Buffalo Wings, Bombs, and Birthdays!

AUGUST 26th Sunday:
I am kind of keeping my blog like a journal.  I have to go back into my calendar and facebook to remember because I can hardly remember yesterday. lol!  Papa and I had the most relaxing Sunday and just watched Netflix.  We are into Heartland right now. It is a pretty good series.

MONDAY AUG 27:
Papa and I went to the doctors and got my heart monitor. I had to have it on for 48 hours.  It was inconvenient but not painful.  It is just sticker things on me. It was just bothersome to have the neck thingy on to hold it up. I don't like things around my neck, wrists or fingers.  I don't wear jewelry. lol  And this picture is not me either.

Papa also had blood draw and picked up his blood thinner.  Then we went to Domino's and picked up a pizza and bread sticks to take to Lauren's where she babysits for her and the kids. It was really good!!!!

TUESDAY, AUGUST 28:
Didn't sleep that great with that monitor on. A couple of patches kept trying to come off.  I hope it doesn't mess up the outcome. Papa took KitKat to the vet to get his Feline Leukemia shot and his nails cut. He did good. But they are insisting he needs a booster in a couple weeks so he got him an appointment.
I picked up Madi and we went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. They had a great 2 for 1 deal and Madi got hot wings and I got teriyaki.  I took most of the breading off mine. Probably not good for me.  After lunch I took her to her dental appointment.  She needed a checkup and cleaning.  Dr. Scott Stewart came and sat in the waiting room and we chatted for a long time. It was nice to see him.  He is such a great dentist and nice guy.  He always asks about Kevon when I see him. He is all our dentist.
Grandson Patrick moved to Phoenix to start Motorcycle mechanic school. I am so proud of him for starting this chapter in his life but he sure is far away.  That makes me sad.  If I had my way no one would move away.

Oh and there was some excitement in the Sound by Keyport. Had a nice display by the Navy’s EOD as they detonated an old mine they found floating out between Bainbridge Island and Brownsville. Explosion was about 40 seconds long.

What was weird was the warning they posted for those living nearby.  Probably scared everyone!
"This is the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management with important information for the area of the Brownsville Marina.

Kitsap County Sheriffs Office is asking the public to SHELTER-IN-PLACE if you live or work around the Brownsville Marina at this time. Bring family, pets and yourself inside, close and lock the doors and windows, stay away from windows and open areas. STAY OFF THE PHONE unless it is a life threatening emergency. If outside, stay away from the beaches and seek shelter or leave the vicinity of the marina. Tune to your local radio or television for information and instructions. There may be updates to this notification as events change."

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29:
I got to take the monitor off and take that contraption back to the doctor. Felt great! Freedom!  I find out the verdict this Tuesday at my doctor appointment.  Papa went grocery shopping and I brought Lauren and Madi over here. We watched ghost shows for fun. That was fun.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 30:
We have Lauren and Mac this weekend! That is fun!  Lauren had registration today and came back happier than a clam at high tide!  She got every class she wanted and every teacher she wanted.  And she is thrilled!  I am happy for her.  Madi did really good on her classes too. Not sure about Riley.  I called her the other day to check on her but forgot to ask about her classes.
Today was Ma's birthday. She would have been 87 years old.  I miss her. Lanny really misses his mama.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 31
Papa finished up the grocery shopping. Lauren had a basketball game that night and then spent the night at Lindsays.  So she had fun.

SATURDAY,  SEPT 1
Lauren spent the day with Lindsay and Jacob getting their locker ready for school.  We took them home from Lindsays.

SUNDAY, SEPT 2
Didn't do much of anything today. Another lazy day.
Right now I am watching Scruffy stare out the window. It is after 9 and Papa isn't home and it is dark outside and he is not happy.  But he will be because Papa is bringing Lauren and Madi home!

Papa and Lauren were at this little girls birthday, Ava, and Lauren was suppose to get picked up from a friend who ended up having to work.  So the plan changed and they picked up Madi to come spend the night instead!

Well, I guess I should go to bed now.  Three more days until school starts around here and papa will be busy again... and happy!

family, food and forest animals!

AUG 17TH FRIDAY:

Made a mistake and ate cherry pie. I loved it but it sure upped my blood sugar.  Mistakes like that aren't good for me.  I get so tired of it.

Karla and her family went camping.  They had a blast even with all the mishaps. Joel lost his keys. A large noisy group came to Seal Rock. Fire works were going off. The bathrooms plugged and ran out of toilet paper. And there were no camp hosts all weekend.  Yet they still had family fun hiking, playing games, etc... they came home a day early.  And Dylan wrote a letter.  He is shades of my mom! lol

Well, a black bear was spotted about a mile from the bridge and about a mile from our house on Paradise Bay Road.  I saw one a couple years ago about a mile the opposite way towards Port Ludlow. We have them around and cougars and deer. Not seeing raccoons like we used to have around here. Not sure about coyotes. Here is a picture of the cougar out in Brownsville that has been chasing deer. She's big.

Lauren got home from band camp. She loves band camp at Flagler. Lots and lots of marching but so fun for her!!!!

18th SATURDAY:

Melvin came home on Saturday after being away in basic training.  Very happy he is back and going to work.  He was brought into the family when he and Jordy dated. Brad and Tara saw he had a need and gave him a bed room and pretty much adopted him into their family.  And even after Mel and Jordy broke up he stayed with the family.  They love him very much as you can tell with this photo of Tara with Melvin.

After waiting for 30 years my brother finally got his Corvette. He didn't get to come see us all this summer because of some health issues but he got something he'll love and enjoy!  I'm happy for him!

I love these pets!!! They love to sit at the open windows and wait for their papa to get home!!!

Our Chewy box came today (the only place we can get our cat's canned food that he will eat) and he got a toy Papa hung on his cat tree.  He loved it until he fell out. lol!

MONDAY, AUG 20th:

My friends birthday today.  I didn't get to see her but I facebooked and left her a message at home.  We have been friends for almost 25 years and she has seen me through a lot and been my friend through it all. I love Sharon so much!!!

I had to go and get my blood pressure checked at the doctors although I do it every day at home.  We just couldn't seem to get it down to normal. So next week I have to wear a heart monitor for 48 hours. Not looking forward to it but Madi was sitting there with me and making sure I was scheduling it. haha!  She can be bossy.  I know she loves me and wants me better.  My breathing is a big issue, too.

We went to Kiki's and visited with Lauren while she babysat for a little bit. Then we went and got them McDonald's for lunch.  The 3 kids loved it and I know Lauren appreciated it.

Then I took Madi to her appointment at Rosario's and next we went to Pho Kim Chi in Poulsbo.  It is a Vietnamese Restaurant that serves Pho which is Madi's favorite food!!!  I had Fried rice with Shrimp, Chicken, Pork and Beef.  It was so good but ended up being 3 meals for Lanny and I the rest of the week!  They give a lot of food!  My fortune cookie cracked Madi up because she thought it was perfect for me! haha! I guess if I paid more attention when people were talking to me I might remember what they said. lol

Here is Madi enjoying her Pho!!!

Papa sanded and painted the legs of the picnic table and it looks amazing!  He has to stay busy all the time!

This is the bridge on my drive home.  I love this bridge and the view except when it has to open the drawspan for a ship or sailboat to go through. It is a pain and usually 30 to 60 minutes wait in traffic. Submarines always take longer. Sometimes it even closes during wind storms.

Here is a view of the bridge taken from Kevon's boat.

TUES, 8/25:

Brad, Tara and Riley went back down to California for Riley's (hopefully) last surgery!  Our prayer is she will be pain free for ever.  They got home last night. Thankful to God for His protection and love over this family!

WEDNESDAY 8-22:

We were really hoping the air quality will be better by now but the fires in Canada and the fire in the Olympics is making it so smokey.
Here are the Olympics .. the view when crossing the bridge. Now if you took the picture you couldn't see the mountains because of the smoke. sad.

We had plans for this day to take Lauren's kids to the movie and the park for a picnic.  But I dropped them off at the movie and Lauren took them in to watch Chipwrecked at the $1.00 summer movie and they pigged out on popcorn.
I took Madi a almond milk coffee and almond croissant. She was very happy to get that breakfast.  I then went to Red Apple and got 10% off at the store because I am a senior!!!!  I got some Ivar's clam chowder, sweet onions were on sale, I also bought some stew started (one of the only places to find it and papa loves it), and some other stuff.  Then I went back and waited for them to get out of the theater.
After the theater Lauren decided it wasn't healthy because of the air to take them to a park so we took them to McDonalds instead.  haha!  They have a big playland there so the kids ran around and played and tired themselves out.  The service was terrible...the girl didn't take my whole order and it took forever to find out it was never ordered so I had to get back in line and reorder the rest and then that order took forever for it to get done.  I understand it was lunch hour, the movie was out and kids were every where, but still.... I was kind of crabby.  Lauren and I had to have a discussion we didn't like having, too, but we made it through lunch and the kids had fun.
After I took them back it was nice to see Papa had Fleabusters through the house!!!!  That was great.  We don't have fleas and neither do the animals but I saw a little spider on the carpet the other day and we don't do bugs.  Fleabusters is the greatest powder in the world and is non toxic to the dog and cat and plants and lasts for several years so we've used it forever.  It was nice papa got it done.  The first two times we did it the company came in and did it for us. Then Papa said he could do it himself and just bought the powder, Ta Da!!!!

THURSDAY, AUG 23rd

Lauren was off work so I went and picked her up and then got her friend Jacob and brought them to our house.  They went into the den and watched movies and laughed so loud the neighbors probably heard them. I really liked Jacob. He is so nice and well mannered!!!! Papa had to go to the bank etc.. so he went to KFC and picked up $5.00 lunches for us all. The kids enjoyed that for sure.  I think they had a lot of fun and Papa took them home later.

FRIDAY, AUG 24th

Lanny had his cardiologist appointment.  It has been over 11 years since his heart surgery and a while since he's gone to the heart doctor. He's been also having breathing problems and tiredness.  So found out he has Atrial Flutter.  His heart flutters instead of beats like normal. So they are going to put him on Warfarin (blood thinner) for a while. He has to go and see Dr. Johnson and probably go into the hospital to get electrical cardioversion.  It is to get his heart rhythm back to normal and he will be asleep during it.  I remember when mom had it done. We are a bit nervous about it but praying for His peace.

So happy for Heather and the family taking a final mini vacation to the ocean before Patrick leaves for his schooling in Phoenix on Tuesday. Such a bitter sweet time.  They will miss him so much but it is the reason they raised him into a wonderful, strong young man.... to go off and experience life on his own!  I hope the weekend is wonderful for them all!

Well, it is Saturday the 25th and the bills are paid and everyone is happy. Life is good! Riley just called me to let me know how she is doing and she is doing pretty good!  I love that girl!!!!

Hope all is good for you all too! xoxoxo

Half the way through...

Slacker!  That is what I am this month.  So I will just fix that and update. It may take me a few minutes. haha!

W 8-1 : Our month started with our grand-dog coming to stay with us for almost two weeks.  He was happy to come over and he was such a good boy.  He likes to be here but he was really glad to go home more.  He loves his family so much and misses them when he doesn't see them.

Th 8-2 : Lauren went to the doctor and her concussion was healing nicely and she was starting to feel better.  She still had some headache and memory problems but most of it was better.  She spent the night and Papa made yummy chicken and dumplins.  He is a better cook than I every was.

F 8-3 : Our grandson, Joshua, turned 14 today.  He is #9 grandbaby. He is so smart and so handsome and we love him so much!  Talked to him on his birthday and they went to a trampoline gym place and his friend broke his collar bone or something like that.  I am so glad Josh didn't get hurt! He had a good birthday it sounds like!

Dr. Chun called to see how I was doing with my breathing, blood sugar and blood pressure.  I think I am doing somewhat better.  My blood pressure hasn't changed. I check these things every day. I am doing better with my blood sugars though.

S 8-4:  Didn't do much at all on Saturday.  Just chilled and watched "Hell on  Wheels" on Netflix.  It is a good show and we are hooked.  Lauren went to a Mariner's game with her friend Daisy and others.

Su 8-5:  Another lazy day.  The bridge is closed so much and there are accidents so much around here that weekends are not fun to go anywhere.  We don't drive any distance any more.  Lanny has some health issues he doesn't talk about too much.  Driving is hard for him on his vision (he takes eye drops every night and sees a specialist), his hips, back, and knees etc...  This is one of the main reason we don't go to Odessa, Don and Lois's, softball games at any distance, or Forks.  Kevon does the driving to graduations for us in Odessa. Lanny finally knows his limitations and is being more careful with his driving and of course his work around here. When he mows he takes breaks. He doesn't get things done because he can't by himself. He won't even be changing the oil in the vehicles and our wonderful son-in-law, Brad, is going to do it.  Got rid of the trailer because we couldn't use it anymore. We don't go camping.  At 69 years old he is slowing down. Getting out of the recliner isn't even that easy.  But he keeps on going because "if you don't use it you lose it" he says.

This day is also my nephew Justins' birthday.  He still seems like a baby boy to me but he has two kids of his own and a beautiful wife now and served as a Marine in the Middle East.  So he isn't a baby boy, but I will never forget when he was and he spent a lot of time visiting our home!

Today was also National Sisters Day!  I have 2 sisters who mean everything to me, who I grew up with, we had the same parents and siblings and pets and neighborhoods. We have been there for one another, loved and fought with each other, laughed and cried together and for each other.  I love my sisters.

M 8-6:  Today I picked up Madi and then we went to Lauren's to pick up her and Annika!!!!  Annika and Lauren have been friends for years!!!! She moved to Texas with her family and they try to see each other every summer when her dad comes up for visit and to see family.  To see them together makes me smile because it is like they are never apart... they have that kind of friendship.  I didn't take a picture of them but they did. They didn't send it to me though.

They wanted to go to the thrift store so I took them to Goodwill. They got a few things.  Then we went to Wendy's and got Frosty's and fries. It was pretty hot out so that really helped cool us off. It was a good day!

T 8-7:  Tara's 45th birthday!!!! Can't believe it!!!!  She was just a little girl. Like everyone else I wonder where the time went. It seems like the other day I was 30.

Sounds like she had a pretty good birthday!  We called her and wished her a happy bday.  She worked and went out with her kids.

Madi and Lauren came over and spent the day with me. Papa made them breakfast. Madi loves papa's breakfast. Bacon, hard fried eggs, hash browns and mini pancakes with chocolate milk.  (Lauren has scrambled eggs, toast instead of pancakes).  The we watch scary ghost shows during the day.  It was a good day.  Lauren slept some with her dog.

W 8-8:  HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BRAD AND TARA!

Th 8-9:  Andrew and Dylan came over and and loaded up all our garbage (three recliners, a dryer, a burning barrel, TV's, computer stuff and stuff). Dylan only got to help a little while and then went to the Seahawk game with his friend Dennis.  Andrew got the rest the next day too.  We were just soooo thankful to have that stuff off our deck and out of our den.

F 8-10 :  Andrew did his last dump run.  That was about all that happened that day.  Papa made him a bacon sandwich he really liked.  nummmm!

S 8-11:  Chilled all day.  Big day tomorrow.  Fires in the Hamma Hamma region that make me sad. So dry and hot.

SU 8-12: Lauren came over early.  Ended up sleeping in Papa's chair until he took her to Band Camp.  She was so excited to go!  She looks forward to it! Hopefully she won't get hurt like at church camp.  So far I heard she got sunburned but that is expected marching outside for 6 hours in the heat.  I hope she is getting a lot of water!!!

Drove to Jordy's bridal shower.  It was so good to see her. She looked beautiful!  It was a real nice time with interesting games.  I actually won the game of picking how many kisses were in a jar.  I said 125 and there were 137! So I did win a jar of kisses I can't eat. lol!  Here are some pictures taken but I didn't take any...

After the shower I stopped at Amanda's for a party for Aaron.  Bill and Judie were there so it was fun visiting with them and Mark and Kristi! Karla was there and Brad.  A few other couples I didn't know.  Manda made lumpia and pancit!  Good food as usual.  Papa came late after dropping Lauren off at camp.

M 8-13:  Took Madi to the school for her Athletic Medicine class that was to go all day.  After 1/2 a day there she decided she didn't have the time to take the class all year because of all her other classes and activities she will be doing in her Sophomore year.  She enjoyed it last year and will probably miss it.
Manda and Andrew came and got Mac.  He was so excited to see them and go home with them he didn't even take time to say goodbye. Silly dog!
Riley passed her drivers test!!!!

T  8-14:  Shopping on the Internet today.  Ordered my dress for Jo's wedding, ordered cat food and toys from Chewy.  Also some Flea Busters through Amazon.  I find good deals on the Internet.  That was about it for Tuesday.

W  8-15:  Papa took Scruffy to the groomers to get his nails cut.  I went and picked up Madi and we went to Red Robin for lunch.  I had fish and chips and chowder.  Madi had a milkshake and chicken strips with hot sauce and fries. Good food and the waiter was awesome!  After we left there we went to Ross's.  Madi tried on a couple jumpsuits and picked one to buy.  It is really cute.  It was so hot and muggy out!  Then I took Madi to her mom's work.  She had another acupuncture appointment.

TH 8-16:  Papa made an amazing steak dinner tonight.  He went and bought new black tennis shoes.  He really likes them!!!

Well, I am caught up!  Hope you enjoyed this update!  Have a great rest of the month!
